[Battle League Rules 1.4] - [23.9.2002 ; 3:17 am - by *DAMN Mauti]
Finally the new BL rules avaible. You can download them here. These rules will count from 24.9.2002;12:00am GMT on.(Note that you have to download the new rules the rules.php site hasn't been updated yet)
Here are the most important changes:
- 7.1. A clanbattle official starts when you have played all lagtest games and agreed with the host. That means if you don't find a good host you can still drop the cb but once you agreed to a host and have played all lagtest games the cb counts for the ladder.
- 9. Ties count as regular played games.
- 11. The winner is the team with the most games won after the agreed upon number of games. In case of a tie, play tiebreaker sets (2 games on each host) until a set ends with a winner.
- 19.1. The winner of a cb has to submit the cb result.

- 22. *DAMN reserves the right to remove or ban any clan or player that acts unacceptably.
22.1. Impersonation of a clan or players that is hurtful through a website, GR name/icons, or any type up to the admins' discression, is strictly forbidden and will be subject to punishment of offending clan/players.
22.3. The two rules above will affect from 24.9.2002;12:00am GMT on all clans that are already registered and want to join the league in the future. *DAMN and the BL dissociates themselves from such behaviour and we won't hesitate to ban clans/players immediatly that ignore these rules.
The last point is one of the most important changes please report any violations of these rules asap at the BL Forum(after the 24.9.2002;12:00am GMT).
As you can see 3rd person has to be off in RS now. About the poll as I said once the poll tracks IPs and well 40 percent of your votes are invalid but both sides cheated almost equally so the vote against 3rd person won with 59.7percent(Thats the vote after wiping out all invalid votes).
Also the BL map pack hasn't been forced yet because of the delay of the BHD mod. The map pack will probably be forced with the next rules update.
You still can't sign up for the next season yet. However we are working 24/7 on the new BL site and script. So don't wonder if your clan hasn't been added to the ladders. About the already registered clans: Bondo will send off an mail soon to see which clans are still active or disbanded.
Because this was the first season also some clans that haven't played the 3 cbs against 3 clans can still join the 2nd season but expect that we are handling this rule stricter in the 2nd season.
General News: The RSD ladder will die and will be replaced by a Ghost Recon ladder also the overall ladder will be disabled. About the R6 ladder we will still run this ladder but I am not sure if we will reset this ladder or not(depends on how many clans of the 1st season still play R6)

You told your clan not to cb without u in the KoS Vs Virus battle so u must of been scared. So this season u are not gonna play in the KoS Vs virus cb?

As I said in the thread "Lets make rs more realistic", which ace locked, me not wanting to play in the Bl has nothign to do with kos. KoS does want to participate because it would be selfish for me to make the 13 other guys not be able to play because of the way they feel. They will just have to become #1 again without my help this time. Shouldn't be that much of a problem. After SWAT and PsYcO died, we hav't had any true competition.
And what ever happeed to the Hall of Fame ?  |

Well, sorry to get this back on a gentle tone, Oso, I got a reply from Buccaneer (or maybe Deadeye, I don't remember now) saying that it would be best to be changed...then again, do you really want to keep SECT going? Either way, you need to provide an e-mail that is checked at least every few days.
Ult, should I consider KoS not active for the BL then this season? |

Ultimo, Viper and all other that complain i just can you tell you one thing if you proof and all other that use 3rd person that you can also own without 3rd person I am sure that 3rd person will be allowed again in the 3rd season. See it as challenge. About the argument that only noobs voted against 3rd person many vet clans that were in the top10 voted against it.
About the majority: we could start discussion if the developers wanted to have 3rd person on by default or not because you have to check the 3rd person to activate it. However I think that leads to nothing. Just try it! As I stated I also used 3rd person from time to time because if you use it right you it can be helpful. However many guys thing that clans use it for camping. Next season I can put up again a poll about 3rd person but this season we try it as 59percent wished it. |

About the comment of ultimo. Maybe in us the majority is 2/3, but we are not in political thing and im not leaving in US. In quebec btw a law is voted when we reach half + 1 and this is call majority. Is the battle league an tournement for US only... i dont think so.

Some people base their whole playing style in RS around 3rd person. I know certain area's in every map where I like to scan with 3rd, and use 3rd. Now that your taking away, your practically telling me I have to play a whole different game. Bottom line is its not fair. |

You say that kos are the only peole complaining... maybe that is because we are the only ones who use it correctly and now we're getting cheaped out of it because people who hate to lose need to find a fucking excuse.

Destructo I use 3rd person myself however I run this league together with the community and 59percent would like to see 3rd person off. Last season we played with 3rd person and this season we play without it. Your argument that it comes witht the game is ok but the game also comes with an option to turn it off. I looked at many other RS ladders and the most have 3rd person off. Well are an independent league but the community wanted it OFF so I respect this wish and here we go.
Btw they didn't cry about to turn it off Rob just came to me and asked me to remake a poll about 3rd person. So did I and that was it. No crying or whining contrary to KoS. I can understand that you are upset however I can only say free your mind for a new variation. We will see if it works but I won't change the rule this season.
"I have also done a lot of harm" - That's typical once you do something against someone's opinion you are a bad ass.
It isn't the nail for this BL but we can remake a poll after this season but I don't think something will change because most guys are satisfied with this rule.

Third person was removed beacuse the majority of people disliked it, end of story. Many players including myself do not use third person. Anyone wants to 1v1 me and see how someone who doesn't use it can beat someone who does, then bring it. It's a cheap feature that encorages camping and should be removed from the game. |

Taking 3rd person off, is like playing Ice hockey without a jock. You don't need it to play, but you damn love it when it's there to save your ass.
Exactly like 3rd person. Noobs and assholes who are against it, usually have the button for it closer to there hand then the reload button. Sure they hate when they get smoked when someone else does it to them, but when they 3rd person camp, or sit behind a corner for the whole game, and win, then they praise it.
Mauti, I think you did a big mistake by doing this, and i think you have gone to far this time. It is as much as part of the game as the PDW is. But no one seems to care about that, b/c everyone uses a PDW...hmmmm that's wierd....EVERYONE USES 3RD PERSON ALSO!!!..Even those who say they don't.

Well almost 75percent voted for a map pack. And 59percent are more than 41percent. It's your decision to go and I don't think it is half RS now. The maps will be chosen that can run on almost every mac.RS itself has enough laggy maps so your argument is pointless also you don't have to chose those maps in a cb. Free your mind for something new. KoS should have enough skillz to learn some new maps. |

Usually to change a rule, such as 3rd person, you need to have a MAJORITY. 59 percent is a majority ? In our governement you need to have 2/3 majority to make a new law or find one unconstituational. It should be the same way in the Battle League. So I guess your saying "Fuck you" to the other 41 percent who use 3rd person. Well then you can expect the same treatment from us.
For all the help you have done for the mac community, you have also done alot of harm. This BL season, we won't even be playing RS anymore. I consider RS with the original maps and all the features it came with. All mac players do is complain untill they get their way, because god forbid they lose.... then something must be wrong. Now we are gonna be playing a game "half ass rogue spear", playing modded laggy maps and no 3rd person. How much more can you take away from this game....
If there is one thing for sure.... you pushed me away from the BL, I didn't leave on my own. Bye : |

in the BL forums there is a 10 months old thread into which changes of the claninfo could have been written in - i'm amazed that virtually nobody used this nor emailed me about changes of mail address, clan name, ...

Ok, I have sent the e-mails out to all 47 currently listed clans (DAMN being the one I didn't send to). They were sent to the e-mail listed in the clan info. Please check those e-mail accounts and reply. If no reply is recieved in 3 days the e-mail will be considered and I'll post a list of the clans with dead e-mails here on the BL site. If in the 3 days after that no response has come the clan will be deleted from the BL.
If you know the e-mail is dead you can go ahead and send an e-mail to bondo@adelphia.net with the answers to the following questions.
What is your Clan Name?
Do you still wish to participate in the DAMN Battle League?
Which ladders do you wish to participate in (R6, RS, GR)?
Please go to the BL page and find your clan on the ladder and click on it...is all the information listed there correct? If not please include corrections. |
