Okay, I've finally decided to become a member of the 21st Century and buy my very first Apple iPod.  I'm actually not getting it for the reason most of you buy them for (to play music).  I'm mainly getting it with the Digital Camera Connector so that I can use it to download pictures I take with my Canon EOS 20D instead of hauling around a PowerBook all the time.  The biggest CompactFlash card I can get for my camera is 8GB witch costs like $700, so I think this solution would be a lot more cost effective.

Anyway, Apple offers free Laser Engraving and I can't decide what to put back there.  I'm thinking I might want to put one of the generic sayings on it so that I could sell it later more easily in case I want to upgrade.  So, take the poll, or hit OTHER and list your thoughts here!

a little off topic but i am seriously considering a Digital SLR and am pretty much stuck on the Canon EOS 20D ... you bought one didn't you? Not certain about the lenses can't make my mind up other than id like a macro, wide angle, and good zoom lense for wildlife.

How was it GS, any problems with the camera pros/cons you've had? which lenses did you get and how have you found them? this is all off topic but you've got my email/pm if you could spare a bit of time would love some feedback (anyone else with a pro-sumer canon Digital SLR as well!!)

ps.. hmm depends if you ever want to sell it. i put my real name and the 'company' name that i work freelance under. i know which ipod is mine, but i can't ever sell it Wink

No problem, it's off-topic but it is MY topic so I guess I can make an exception...lol

The EOS 20D has been awesome!  I bought it in September and I've taken around 10,000 pictures with it since then (over 1,000 pictures just of the destruction from Hurricane Katrina that hit here).  The first two lenses I bought were the EF 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens and the EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM.  They were both great lenses, but I decided I wanted something a little better for low-light situations so I ended up selling both of those on ebay.  I ended up with the EF 50mm f/1.4 Prime Lens, EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro, EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, and the incredible EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM.  Those last two are both Canon "L" Lenses which cost a small fortune but are worth every penny.  That 4-lens group seems to be working perfectly for me.  I also use the EF 2x Converter which allows my 70-200mm lens to become a 140-400mm lens when I need extra telephoto.  I may end up buying the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM to cover airshows.  I would say to always go for an Image Stabilized Lens (has the IS designation) on any of the zoom lenses and if you can afford it, get an L-Series Lens (they are as much or more than the camera though!).  If I had to recommend one "affordable" walk-around lens, I'd say to go with the EF 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens and then if you want to add a Macro lens, get the EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro.  Both are very affordable and take great pictures.  I can't stress enough how important buying an IS lens is on any zoom lens, makes a world of difference.  Also, the controls and features of the EOS 20D are really nice.  Remember that any lens you buy for it has to have its focal length multiplied by 1.6 because of the smaller sensor on that camera (same as the Digital Rebel XT).  So, my 70-200mm lens really gives me the view as if I were using a 112-320mm lens.  This is mainly important in realizing that if you want something "wide-angle", you've got to get a lens that is Ultra-Wide Angle to capture the same shot.  That's where that 17-85mm Lens does a really good job.  If you have any other questions, ask away!

OMG, this is the longest post I've left in like a year!  lol

How in the hell could Apple offer to give you free laser engraving from the Apple Store and then void your warranty for getting it?  That doesn't make any sense!

I dunno, maybe APP doesn't support it or something - or maybe I'm just confused.

. . . I just thought I had overheard Sab saying something like that.

Can anyone else confirm this?  If it's true, then I definitely won't be getting the free engraving done!

No, it's doesn't really matter what you do to the outer look of it, as long as you don't open it.

On-Topic: As cottonmouth said, don't do it... if you decide to sell it (which you do very frequently because of new releases by Apple Wink), you'll much more likely get rid of it, for a reasonable price, than with an engraving. But if you don't care about that... I'd go with "Apple / Think different." (in two lines, without the quotes and the slash).

Yeah, I was thinking of doing something like that....something that wouldn't hurt the resale value of it.

By the way, I thought about you before I sold my 17" PowerBook, but I doubt you would have given me the full price that I paid for it 4 months ago like that idiot on ebay did.  Wink

He'd have to steal some fuzzy dice first.  So he could have something to work with... Ah hell he might as well just steal the truck too.
