Yeah, they dropped it by $200 (to get rid of it somehow now)... but who wants an 'old' iMac G5 now that the Intel ones are out (and perform MUCH better in almost everything, especially native applications)? Roll Eyes

All the (important) software will be updated with Universal Binaries or even released with own versions, though... and all so far benchmarked native applications, x86 or UB, DO run MUCH better on the Intel-Macs, compared to their native PPC counterparts on PPC-Macs.

Well, how about the fact that the Intel iMacs don't have FireWire 800?  Sorry, but that just kills it for me.

Damn, the G5's didn't?  Well, that must be why I didn't buy one of those, as well.   Wink

You would probably never buy one anyway.. If you weren't giving one away.

I'm happy that I have my 20" iMac G5 - none of the current games play well on the new Intel Macs.  Sure there will be new universal apps out soon enough but I'll have a new intel mac by then.

Intel Powermacs in the summer?

All games which have been released as UBs already or the so far benchmarked 'beta' UBs for some games run FAR superior on the Intel-Macs than the native PPC counterparts on PPCs (WoW, Doom 3, etc). Tongue Of course you can't expect much of Rosetta in 'demanding' applications like recent games... especially ones which have many PPC-specific optimizations (not necessary with x86 anymore since the original game has been mainly developed for it already... in fact, PPC is what was holding a lot of performance back).

The Universial apps don't run 2 times faster though as Apple previously claimed.
