My Dad wants to make a website so he's looking for an easy to use website builder.  Hopefully you guys can reccomend some.

He doesn't know anything about html or css or any language.  All he wants is a way to catagorize things online i.e. have three buttons on main page then on mouseover have a dropdown menu with more things.

Hopefully I can be pointed in the right direction Wink

http://www.apple.com/ilife/iweb/

http://realmacsoftware.com/rapidweaver/index.php

I'd rather recommend RapidWeaver than iWeb, though, it simply has more features and can upload to webspace directly. iWeb can only do that if you have .mac, otherwise you have to do it manually everytime you update the site... But if you have iLife '06 already or could use any of the other included apps in the package, and don't care about the few downsides of iWeb, then you could go for it as well.

Hmm... get RapidWeaver.

Dreamweaver is simple to use and you can do a lot with limited Html knowledge.

rapidweaver all the way - very very very simple and easy its just DTP heh. I wouldn't let him near Dreamweaver, ok it writes your code but it isn't going to build your website like rapidweaver will.

yea but you still have to build the website from scratch here unless you use one of the crappy templates.

Shade, go for rapidweaver mate. I don't think your dads up to dreamweaver - and it wouldn't be any use if he has no knowledge of html etc. drag and drop DTP is what you want - and rapid weaver will give you that, with enough flexability to tweak template images etc.

Thanks guys.  I downloaded the trial version of Rapidweaver and I was messing about with it, it was so easy to slap together a webpage.  He wanted to catagorize some files so I used the template for that and it was a breeze.  I got a test one all set up and showed it to him and his response was, ah thats not really what I'm looking for.  So I just say pooh pooh on him, it's probably one of thoes one day things where he'll forget it tomorrow.

But I'm glad I have rapidweaver now, good way for me to be able to set up a site Smiley.

He doesn't get the fact that you have to pay a montly fee for a server to put the files on either . . . n00b.

Who knows, he gets into these moods where he's just got to organize things and this looked perfect but aparently not.  We'll see if this turns into anything I guess and maybe I will return.
