Where is the knowledge we lost with information?

« on: October 14, 2005, 02:29:36 am »

When I connect my iPod to my computer instead of saying do not disconnect my iPod behaves just like its on the normal charger and the computer does not open iTunes or show my iPod is connected. I have an older gen iPod. The one with the 4 buttons on top and the non click wheel 10 gb and I have a g5 iMac with Tiger. Do I have to use older software with the iPod or something?

I have the same iPod and this happened to me with the most recent iPod update. Use an older version and it should be fine.

There is a way to reset it. Its something like holding down the two skip buttons or something like that.

Put it on hold and then put it back. Then press both the Menu and the Enter button at once until the Apple sign appears. Now it's reset.

Ugh! It didn't work the second time I tried it. Can you link me to a site where I can get the older version of the updater? I can't find any but the new one.

i know EXACTLY what this is about. happend to me almost a year ago with a 5gb version. unfortunatly the firewire port on the pod is located at the top, and it works like a wedge fit. so after time the pulling of the firewire cord stresses and often breaks the firewire port's connection to the pod's mother board. sometimes it breaks all of it, other times it breaks either the charge portion or the mounting portion. unfortunatly this isnt a software problem, and its gonna cost you half the price of a new ipod to fix it. so safe the $$ and get a dope ass video pod.

believe me i tried everthing. apple forums, here, i even poped the back off to see if i could fix it myself, and you cant see where its busted. i had to pay 50 bucks for apple to tell me what i just told you.

im sorry for your loss, buts its a design flaw.
