Network feud leads to Net blackout-

http://news.com.com/Network+feud+leads+to+Net+blackout/2100-1038_3-5889592.html?tag=nefd.top

This explains why some members have had a hard time the last few days getting internet connections to GR, and other areas. I myself had noticed a dramatic drop in speeds over the last few days, with refused connections to Sites ivisit regularly. at least i know its not my computer now.

And THIS gem.

http://technology.guardian.co.uk/weekly/story/0,16376,1585288,00.html

The first major shot has been fired in the war over the control of the internet, and i am utterly shocked that it never made the news...becuase ultimately it will affect all of us, the amount of access we have and the types of business ventures that can be founded on the internet structure.

Scary shit, really...

More of the world wanting to punish America for whats going on with our foreign policy..
ROBUST, Open backbone systems with few technical flaws, excellent flow management, fair and open trade protocol, freedom of informational access, and free speech to be replaced by what?
The UN? hah.

Yeah, the council had no definitive answers, other than they want to wrest control away from America...well, just becuase.

hahah, problem is sheix, we promised to give up control of the servers and basically just changed our mind for some cloudy reasons.  No matter what, they have a right ot be pissed at our sudden change of heart, and until solid reasons are given as to why this happened, i can see how they want to do some type of actions.

hmm...did NOT know that...

(I warned you about using reason, logic and fact in our discussions...btw)
Ill deal with you later.

ok, then another question..

Do you want china, brazil, (germany, canada- both of whom prosecute internationally for THEIR interpretation of whether hate crime applies to your speech on the internet, no matter where that speech originated) and micronesia in control of YOUR internet access?

I dont.

I don't really care who's in "control" of the Internet, seems to have worked fine so far with the US in charge. But in all fairness I think no one country should be in control of the Internet, even though you guys did come up with it  (Cheers Smiley )

The best solution would be to put the "root servers" in neutral Switzerland and have a international board of directors. Voila!

Allrighty, i don't think any country should retain control over the 'internet' - although these days how exactly you define the internet and how to contain it i don't know.
