If you wanna learn a real, manly/very geeky language, then learn Assembly: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assembly_language

With this, you too can write buffer overflow exploits that bring down corporate networks worldwide!

All that aside, Python is a good learning language to get the concepts of programming down.  Eventually you'll want to learn something that gives you more direct access to memory and registers.  And if you're going to major in Comp Sci, eventually you will.  Have fun!
