Here is the update regarding Season XI:

We have had 4 admin teams working around the clock to get things up and running so we can start Season XI.

Team 1 consists of Spike, Brutha, and Vickedson.  They have been working on fixing everything related to Raven Shield.

Team 2 consists of Red Tigah, Mr. T, and BFG.  They have been working on the totally reworked *DBL Map Pack 3.0; including fixing bugs, changing spawn points, adding new maps, making changes to weapons, etc.

Team 3 consists of GhostSniper.  I have been rewriting the complete *DBL Rules; including fixing grammar & spelling errors, trying to make the rules easier to understand, adding and deleting sections, redesigning the rule structure, and trying to reduce the number of pages in the rules.

Team 4 consists of Civic.  He has been working on everything related to a new First to Fight ladder.

The members of each of these teams are also helping each of the other teams with ideas and suggestions to make everything go faster.

We are all very close to completing our tasks.  In the coming days the community may see public votes so that you can decide things to help us out (like which maps to add to the map pack, etc).  Please help us out and vote so that we can do what is best for the community.

All in all, things are coming along very quickly, and Season XI will be here before you know it.

Peace.

I have had *Damn BL Map Pack 3 for well over a year.  It seems like this next update should be renamed.  Has this map pack been in beta testing for that long or is the new DBL3 a different map pack altogether?  Here is the readme file from the map pack:

DAMN BL Mappack #3 Added maps

It took us a long time to come up with some worthy maps.  Very tough decision based on the small selection there is out there for maps to be played in a BL.  The maps that we have chosen, some of them had to be modified for better gameplay for the DAMN BL.  i will go over each one and the modifications that were done to them:

1. c01_Plantation = Great well laid out IT(Island Thunder) map for DAMN BL.  Nice open spaces, and of course made by the best map makers of all - UBI Soft.  In either event this map had to be slightly modified on where the smoke spot was because of the even issue that was presented by the layout of this map.  The smoke was moved to a better location to enhance gameplay.

2. c03_High_Sierra = Another IT(Island Thunder) map that we have brought to the DAMN BL.  Great map, great graphics, as well as great layout for the game.  Tons of tunnels and crevices to creep around and kill unsuspecting suckers in the game.  Again, this spawn spot was not in the prime location.  I am sure that anyone that has played this map has thought to themselves, why the center spot was not located in one specific spot on the map.  Well, that has been changed.  Mac enhanced for a Mac.

3. c04_Swamp = Another well laid out IT(Island Thunder) map.  It seems that the best laid maps for the DAMN BL are the ones that are nice and square.  This is another one of those maps.  I had to modify the center size because it was too big to realisticly be used in DAMN BL cb's.  Therefore a smaller smoke needed to be made.  No one wants to have it where they can be 100ft away from the smoke and take it.  You want them to be right in the open.  Plus the fog on this will make for a spectacular CB style game.

4. c07_beach_resort = Another great IT(Island Thunder) map to play.  A little different because it is a rectangular map but the way it is laid out and the way that the spawns are laid out will make for an interesting game.  A map that truly relies on skill as well as a little luck.  Slightly modified the spawn to fir directly into the sandpit.

5. dawn_tg_1 = This is a new map that was just recently ported off of the Ghostrecon.net page.  Very very well made map.  There isnt much to say about it besides try it.  i think you will like the results.

Testing for the maps:
in beta test.  Will list all names at the end of the beta phase.

No, the one you have should've never had this name because it was not official and has never been used. The officially new *DBL mappack 3 that's in development by BL admins right now has nothing to do with it.

The original *DBL 3 was a beta anyways and it was created mostly by :MoD:Saberian and myself with testing from a number of different clans.

If the Island Thunder legality issue could be solved then that mappack would be great because I'm pretty sure just about everybody was happy with it.

Yep, there is a lot of truth what Shade posted.

However because it seems the legality issue will never be solved, we are going to work out a new *DBL Map pack. *DBL Map pack 3 is just the project name - it will be more likely that the previous ones and new one will worked into one final *DBL map pack.

Bye,

Mauti

Mauti ok, but you have to remember that 56kers make up a good portion of Gamers.  Making a single map pack out of 3 is going to be rough on those guys.

They should not be playing online with 56k in the first place, for their own and the other player's sake. Wink Anyway, I doubt there are many BL participants with such a slow connection, if any at all.

I played in the DBL on a 56k for over a year. It's not as hard as you would think as it was pretty stable. Though I agree that size limitations are probably not somethign to worry about.

In the case of the case I can offer a splitted download for slower connections.

Civic, honestly I think you would be suprised, both MoD nomad and MoD Heatman played with 56k this season.  And many others that I know about.
