Well, you can't buy IT directly for the Mac but I'm sure you already knew that.

Trying to please the whole community is one of the most difficult tasks to do.  To me, I believe the mappacks produced so far are crap, but the creators probably thought otherwise.  What we tried to do was give the community larger maps since that's what we are seriously lacking.  Problem is most of the best big maps require IT or are in IT.  With big maps though the problem is reducing the size of the download, we scraped to get rid of every single useless file that was taking up space in the mod and got it down to a normal size, in fact it can still be downloaded off of Sab's site.

I think that the more clans that help create the mappack the better it will be.

as long as the maps are not copyrighted by Aspyr or so there should be no problem. this includes maps from IT and Frostbite, dont know of any other official and "not free" add-ons for GhR.

Frostbite is not an Official expansion, it is a free mod. Although it does require IT to run, since it uses various things from IT.

wasn't Frostbite a purchasable add-on? hmm, i thought it was/is. i'm pretty sure that it is copyrighted by Ubisoft, though.

If it was purchasable then you couldn't download it from *Damn. It was just such a huge mod that it was more like an expansion then a mod.  Wink The official site for it is no longer up but most of the mod team still produces there own mods.

A new map pack for next season would definitely juice things up a little bit, and make it more interesing for all of us.

A couple of suggestions that me and the zt boys thought about:

Northern part of Red Square (its an official GhR map so there shouldnt be any probs)
Daylight version of Airbase (i dont know how these day maps usually work out but..)
Daylight version of big castle (^^, would be cool though)

Im sure mauti wouldnt have probs with a map pack if there were no problems with copyrights and so forth, even a small map pack with a few big maps would definitely be appreciated by the community.

I think he meant a daylight version of M06-Castle Night which is larger than MP06-Castle.

There's a great set of maps put out by the Remy fellas:
http://www.remyg.com/p/RemyMods.html

They never get any play, though they are somewhat bare they still have excellent tactical possibilities. Should take a look at them glitch-wise but they could be fun.

What'dya think?

typical! i totally missed this post at the same time as running through new maps to be suggested for a new mappack or update 2.55.

the last mappack happened quickly and quite without problems. the only problem i have with some of  the mappack maps, is that alot of the maps arent optimized for ghr. either in size, graphics and style. some are just a waste of space, but everyone has different taste. i really wouldnt mind seeing some of these maps thrown out and replaced with more suitable maps. we are used to large maps that are optimal for ghr and i think we all agree that anything less just sucks and arent played(almost not played) HX5 has quite a few cool maps that would work better than some of the ones we have now. Prime mentioned some. day for nite and vice versa works well too. some of those maps would need some fog etc. beach - day would be cool if it has less visibility. do we have anyone that would be willing to take the time to optimize the maps for us? i would if i could. and on that note, maps that have been modded - are we allowed to make adjustments to them? like some of the HX5 maps.

IT and Frostbite. Obviously we have to respect someone's work and ownership, but how long ago was it that someone tried to find out who has the rights on the  IT maps? or does someone in the community have any contacts that could assist us in using a selection of IT maps? i dont mind picking up the phone to see if i can dig into it, but it would ofc be cool if someone has the "inside".

it would be really cool to get a mappack that gives us all some fresh blood and that delivers us the size and style we would need to get a last kick before ghr3 HOPEFULLY comes...please come soon!

thanx

Well - Sab tried just a few seasons ago with minimal results but you can go through the same loop that he did if you want.  Talk to Ubisoft who will refer you to Aspyr probably.

Well, what about some of these maps here: http://www.damnr6.com/macmods/grmap.shtml#

I haven't played most of them (I may be wrong) cause most people don't have them. I'm refering to those maps out of the map-packs. Could we check them out and make a selection or do they suck? (like city street large, etc.)

Hey Tiro

when we worked on the last mappack, those maps where checked out. a few are in the pack i believe(i had to bail cause of work in the middle of the process) and quite a few dont hold the standards that we expect. some are also for other games. there are a few maps in the hx5 pack that look good though...maybe just a replacement of some of the un-ghr like maps in the 2.5 mappack? i'm gonna reinstall IT and frostbite tomorrow and check those babies out(havent looked since they came out)
