Playground GhR: Ladder credited to [a] ferret

• Anybody who has GhR and the *DBL mappacks can play.

player limit:
8 (4v4) - 20 (10v10), teams have to be even at the beginning of the cb, the only time they may not be is if somebody leaves... which shouldn't happen.

captains:
Before the cb begins we get two volenteer captains, the first volunteer picks heads or tails. The winner gets a choice of first player or first map and color choice. The loser obviously gets whatever the winner of the toss doesn't choose.
A player can only be a captain 1 time per day.
The Captains are in charge of keeping score. Winning captain will post the winning team, winning captain first with all other winning players under him. He will also post the losing team in the same order.
rules:
same as *DBL rules (for now at least)
Playground GhR can only be played with the Warzone gametype

scoring:
    Winning player • 1 point
    Losing player • 0 points
    Winning captain • 2 points
    Losing captain • -1 point

Yeah I like the idea.. It is fun.  But one weird thing is the coin toss - the "loser" gets to pick map and first player, and the "winner" only gets color.. that should be switched.  But besides that, i support it.

Im interested... the pass on the room should be provided only to those who sign up (like the ffa code)  We should also note that by no means is the person in charge of the server "in charge" therefore has no booting powers given to him/her.

I liked it without the league being involved.
now we have to sign up here? didnt you say it was open to anyone with the dbls?
Also now we have to come back for a daily password? what happened to just using the fun password.
already all this has led too is it being more complicated.

It is now less like kick ball and more like a organized little league

also, "volunteer"

I just thought some of you may want it to be scored... you don't HAVE to use the daily pass. that's absolutely fine, the pass just makes it easier to distinquish people who are signed up or not.

and you don't even have to sign up before you play, you can play a match and when I see your name in the submitted cb I'll add it to the list.

I'm trying to keep this as hassle free as possible. I thought a score may add a little edge to the game... personally, I don't think it will take away from the fun at all.

keeping stats and all is cool but i dont wanna talk about scores to much, so leave them out pls. it is already cb-action but im pretty happy that it isnt as serious as the league.
im happy i can welcome a top 100 player the same way i greet a top 10 player - this will for sure change if these scores are published here. we already leave to much players out of the seasons because you can built a better team at the moment.
i dont want no replays in this fun gametype.

Lob, This is my own project after a couple requests... trust me, I have plenty of time to work on season 11.  I'm not saying that the other admins are doing nothing or are gone, we're all working on the seasons. It's just impossible to get a season going as planned without full access to the site and site scripts.

I just thought, since this gametype is so fun I would see how it goes in *DAMN... if it doesn't go over or we have too many complaints of *DAMN trying to take over every fun gametype (as we have been accused of) then I'll end it.  And that's fine since I'm not doing this for myself but for you, GhR players.

That's the thing, anybody who wants to can play this... the score shouldn't change the way it's being played. In every one of these games I've played so far the top players are picked first anyway, but the players with a lower skill level still get the chance to play.

What do you mean by "keeping stats and all is cool" what kind of stats were you thinking?

Just remember, this isn't a done deal, anything can be changed if you want. I just wrote this up to see your reaction.

I love these CBs, they bring back the fun to GhR Multiplater action! Let's not make them any more complicated please, what Ferret has set up is great.... I just like the idea of going in, picking team and going at it... and at the end, it was all fun!   I favor no score keeping since it will make it look too serious and competitive, rather than just "come in here and have fun".....

Just my 2 cents!

P.D.- DJ NICO, no you wont... just make sure Carp is in, and he for sure will be the "Fat Boy". lol

Some times things are best left alone….

The reason why [a] ferret and a handful of other people decided to create these Public PCB Games, was to give the community a hassle-free, low maintenance, relaxed competition. You log on to Gameranger, you see this room open, you know the password and you enter. If there are not enough people to make it even numbers, then you ask around. Ok sometimes this takes time and also for volunteer captains to front up takes a bit of time too, but there’s no worry about signing up or keeping track of each cb/captain score and most of the top players are already aware of the password and the rules. Granted, some rules probably need to be changed, but that shouldn’t need to be decided here. I think if you talk to [a] ferret, you’ll find he’s not interested in this competition being formalized like this and since he’s the main creator and hosts most of these PCB’s, then I think he reserves the right to do as he pleases with his competition.

The main problem we do experience is players not staying for the entire cb and this kinda screws everything up. That’s why when you give the password to anyone that signs up, your opening the “Newbie” gates, something this competition has no room for unfortunately. Noobs like their spawns and can play in any other room – but these games are for those that are experienced and have skills and not to be rude here, but have some clue of what’s going on. The players that play in these PCB’s are mostly part of a “network” – most of us know each other, most of us are competitive and we enjoy this level of competition, without too many rules and without too many noobs ruining it for everyone with their camping, tking, and failure to recognise the meaning of Warzone. Most importantly, these games bring back the “fun” to a game that was becoming too repetitive and meaningless.  So I’m sorry Krush, but I don’t think this formalization of  the Public PCB’s will take place – on ferret’s server at least.
