"Apple Computer Inc. has been in talks that could lead to a decision soon to use Intel Corp. chips in its Macintosh computer line, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday."

Same old rumor. Anyone hear more about this? Are pigs flying?

Apple already uses Intel control chips in many products. As for the CPU, that will always be a PPC based chip. Perhaps somehow they confused Cell with Intel when calling for what chip apple will use next.

The IBM roadmap for the G5's is good... we know or at least we hear of continued rumours etc that apple even have testing machines running the new multi-core chips from IBM (starting at 3.00ghz) .. I just can't imagine apple throwing in the towel and turning around and saying "hey the G5's were great, but now we stick intel chips inside?"

Intel's logo would look somewhat sharp on the side of the G5 though (etched like the apple). Anyway, I think this is just another rumor. Apple has shown they can port mac os (of the past) onto x86 so if they wanted to they could.

yeah so i read the other night... apple introducing a whole new product line? ... is there a market for more tablets? - or rather is there a mac market for tablet macs! anyone here buy one?

a mac tablet running a cut down OS X ... and running on an intel chip - why an intel chip in a tablet? i don't think it makes sense i just don't think its going to happen.
