Here it is, the April Quiz!  This month, the quiz will be split into 3 sections, each containing 3 questions. The winner of each section will receive $20 Cash (U.S.), and the winner of the most sections will receive $20 Cash (there will be a tie-breaker question if needed). Also, there will be a 10th question that will be a bonus, also worth $20 Cash. That's $100 up for grabs for the April Quiz! I will post one section each Friday, with the bonus question following on the 4th Friday of the month (April 22).

This Quiz is about World War II:

7.  What famous pilot was killed the day America dropped the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima?

8.  Who was the most successful tank commander of WWII?

9.  What was the most destructive bombing raid of WWII?

That's the third section, good luck!

What is the criteria for #8 exactly?  Because the question can be rather subjective...  for instance, I like Patton (ie the name) so want to put him down, but its really a matter of opinion.

Or is it merely a commander of an individual tank (which would mean confirmed kills...)?

Commander of an individual tank.

Congratulations to BFG for winning the 3rd Section of the April Quiz!

The correct answers are:

7. Maj Richard I Bong, America's highest scoring fighter ace, was killed in a P-80 Shooting Star crash on August 6, 1945, the same day we dropped the first atomic bomb.

8. Panzer Ace Michael Wittmann

9. Gen Curtis LeMay's low-level incendiary bombing of Tokyo, Japan, on the night of March 9-10, 1945.

just wondering, how late was my answer?
Cause I sent it like 10 minutes after you posted this....

and Otto Carius beat Wittmann by at least 20 kills (Wittman had 137, Otto had 150 or so...), or at least said the source I used... What did u get the number from...?

BFG beat you by about 3 minutes.  As for Wittman vs Carius, your source is wrong.  I have the official kill ranking of all tank commanders of WWII at home and it lists Wittman 1st, and Carius 2nd, by number of actual tanks destroyed.  You have to be careful because some sources add in other types of vehicles in the kill numbers to arrive at that person's record.

ya, you have a point there.  The site I used had Wittman with 137  Tank Kills, and Otto merely 150-200 Kills, not specified.

O well, I'm still turning out fine though :p
