Ultimo, I never looked at it that way and you are so true. I know a lot of people that would be willing to pay a small shareware for GR. But however, like Ultimo stated, if we did have to pay for GR, macs wouldn't become anymore popular then they already are (which they are very popular at all). Ultimo is right, just think, if we had to pay for GR do you think people who get a mac next time they have to get a new computer. Hell no they will get a PC. And considering how macs don't get much support for about anything, they will get the PC also because they don't have to pay for any gaming service. I will have to agree with Ultimo on this, although we wouldn't mind pay for GR, it would be a major set back for macs. I think macs don't get the attention that PCs get. I hate it when a new program comes out which will come out both for the mac and pc, but like always, it comes out for the pc first. That gets me so pissed off. Back when I used AOL for the internet I had quite a fight with one of the salesperson and I told him exactly why I was dropping AOL. But I told them that how is it fair that they come out with a new version of AOL for the pc almost a year before it comes out for the mac. I think AOL should divide up into two divisions. One for pc and one for mac this way the new version will come out for both computers systems at the same time. So just because this person prefers this type of computer they don't have to wait a year before they can get something. So although GR would be worth the money, it's not worth setting back our macs.

when u guys are talking about whether charging for gr would hurt macs in general, remember that gr is but a small part in the mac world... besides that, charging would only affect gamers, and most mac gamers are fiercely loyal to apple and wouldnt go pc for anything

sbd - sorry for the misunderstanding, i didnt mean u called me a prick... i know u called me an ass (and right now, thats my biggest source of pride)

There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

Guys,

there is no way that a pay server for mac gamming could drive mac sales down.

First, I don't know anyone that buys a mac as a gaming platform.

Second, there are always free ways to set up the  games (bullitin boards like Hotline, etc.).

Last, anyone actually shelling out a few thousand US dollars to buy a mac, and another 40 US dollars a month for a broadband connection, and 30 to 50 dollars on a game is not going to think twice about a 25 to 50 dollar a year subscription fee for a GOOD gaming server.  The only people I see this having a negative impact on are the kids here on their dad's computers (no offense intended at all).  Just because there is a PAY GAME SERVER OPTION can not drive DOWN sales for Macs....
