Hey guys i know its been ages since u released it, but i recently had to reinstall Ghost Recon and didn't use the complete download last time. Anyway...My question is when i download the DBL Map Pack 2.55 Complete it downloads fine but when i unstuff it my comp doesn't recognise it as an installer and install it says there is no default application for this and i should choose one, it says application when i check info.

I had that same problem. I was using Firefox at the time I believe and I tried downloading it with Safari and it worked fine.

Sometimes it is the unzip from the Finder that screws our installer. Use expander instead and it should work fine.

I tried opening from expander but that didn't work either. Is there anywhere I can download an unzipped version?

I've been there. It said to download in OSX which is where I was already. It also said to drag'n'drop on expander but that doesn't work either. No troubles downloading but the resulting file is unusable.
Any ideas (or uncomressed sources)?

Well please check the filesize and post it here, may your download was interrupted. Further make sure that the *DBL 2.55 complete file has suffix .zip and not .sit. What does Expander say!?
Once the file has been unstuffed you have to double click the file - it's an installer.
Bye,
Mauti

The file info is below. I can download it with no problems with IE or Safari and Expander has no problem expanding it. The __MACOSX folder is empty (just a way of leaving a note maybe?) and if I doubleclick on the document this happens: Thanks for all your help so far Mauti. I appreciate it. Thomas

I had that problem once in fact my post is still up at the top there. I was using Firefox and it was doing something to the download so that it wouldn't work but I switched web browsers and it was fine. I don't know if that's the browsers fault or what.

Subucni - the .zip is missing of the file if you add it on (so that the file is called *DBL Map Pack 2.55 Complete.zip ) then your comp will recognise the file and Stuffit will open it... - im guessing you have allready tried clicking on "choose application" browsing to Stuffit and trying to open it that way?

Stuffit doesn't recognise the document as a stuffed file whether I put .zip on it or not.
I don't think there is anything else I can do at this point. I still think the best way is to find someone who can give me the uncompressed files or find another download site that maybe has files that I can get to work.
Any more ideas guys?

Hmm dosn't sound like your having any luck with this! Just a last question to see if we can solve it: When you click to "choose application" to try and unstuff the file what error does stuffit throw at you? ps. hehe its a Tough call... but i think scary wins it

I reread some of the threads where the guys had solved the problem and it occurred to me that it is probably a system software problem. I can run this map pack in Mac OS 10.2.8, right? The reason I ask is that I finally got a slightly different result by booting up in OS 9, downloading and unstuffing the downloaded file. The difference was that there is now a copy of the mappack file in the __MACOSX folder. It doesn't work either but at least it's there! When I copied the unstuffed folders and files to my desktop computer ( OS X.2.8 ) the mappack inside the __MACOSX folder had dissappeared again. I'm guessing this is a permissions problem?! I still think I would be better off downloading this without compression. Do any of you have this on an ftp site? I have never used emoticons but this one seemed so appropriate: Thomas Mauti have you seen/played Toyspring's Bike Or Die for PalmOS?

I finally solved this by downloading to another machine. I think the problem lies in the combination stuffit + OS X.2.8.
Be very afraid - now I have the dbl's I am coming after you all! So what if you have a few years experience to beat me with - I'll bite your ankles as you walk over my body!
See you in my sites,

Well, I hadn't solved it after all! I have since switched to 10.4 and my G4 tower still cannot unpack these files - I just had the exact same problem on downloading the DBL Final file.
Luckily my little G3 iBook manages it no problem and then passes it to it's big brother.
Still a mystery...

Subucni, are you using the latest version of Stuffit? everyone im aware of has solved it by making sure they are using the most uptodate version to expand the file.
