Hi,

I would like to know how many clanmates have you ever met in real life, or maybe your clan is just a bunch of real life friends? Let me know. E.g. *DAMN started as worldwide gaming community but right now I only play with my real life friends: Bellerophontes, Elandrion and his Brother Cyridian. We all live within 15mins from each other. Of course there is also Bander I know in real and *DAMN Cyrus X-1 but it's been a while since I met them the last time.

Beside that I know Flies a bit, but that's it. I have never seen any other GameRangers in real life so far.

Bye,

Mauti

Unfortunately, I have never met anybody from c| face to face.  Of course, that's because I live in Washington, and apparently nobody with a computer or half a brain lives in this state.  (Though it could also be that my area is Microsuck central, so macs are even rarer here than they are in other places.)

I believe we have a good number of people that live in the California area.

The only member of BTs I ever met in person was Lee.Harvey when I took a trip to North Carolina last summer.  We met up at the local Apple Store and had lunch together.  I know that BTs_Tosh lives in New Orleans, which is only about an hour drive from me, but I have yet to meet him.[/size]

Lets see... havn't met anyone from my clan, but i've met a couple from gameranger.

1.)  Colin, Many of you might remember Gorf and his brother Colin.
I was in Colin's 4th grade class. However, I've never met Gorf.

2.)  :cO:.Exec, I have some friends in his physics class, so I see him a few times per week.

3.)  Vectorman, I've gone to school with him for 8 years, but he's a junior and I'm a senior, so I don't think I've ever met him. I've probably seen him hundreds of times without knowing it.

4.)  Hamburgler, Exec's brother. I was in his math class last year, but he graduated, so I don't see him anymore.

5.)  Evill, Yes, I met Evill at Macworld Expo New York in 2002.

----------------

Late edit:

A kid joined an America's Army game I was playing in about a month ago, and his name was Mackid#####. The number was my zip code. Turns out I had met him a few weeks earlier, and am friends with one of his friends.

But he doesn't use gameranger, so I guess that doesn't count.

How many of your clanmates have you met in real life ....

Since I am such a clanwhore, I have been into 4 clans, in my short online life:

* RnT

* ViRuS

* EUR

* Core

RnT
This clan was founded by me and Sjaky, way back in 1998 i think. The clan was originally meant to be some kind of an "anti-clan", only counting members that actually knew each other in real life.
Having flown "Hornet" with Sjaky for many years,and after a week of having problems with getting online,
I finally took the big step, and said "yes" to Sjakys : "Why the f... dont you just drive down here and lets play in LAN together?"

I fired up my old Thunderbird, drove the 700 km down to Holland in like 9 hours, and met Sjaky at a gasstation.

He guided me back to his home in Zwolle, handed me the biggest joint I´ve ever seen, opened a few beers
and asked : "So Flies, are you rdy to play ?".

After that I met his brother Marco, also known on Gameranger with the nickname "Freecheese"...and later on I met several other RnTs in real life. For those who dont know: Sjaky´s place has become a 2.nd home to me, and we have met so many times now, that i cant keep track. Also my girlfriend has met him, and thinks he is cool but dangerous.

So, although I left RnT to become member in an old clan called ViRuS,
I have met other RnTs on numerous occasions: Saratov - Macman - Godfather - and a few more.

RnT-Sjaky is still a "must" for me, everytime i do some eurotrip,
and the size of his joints hasnt decreased yet.

ViRuS
Virus was actually a pretty cool clan in those days. One of the few euroclans that could seriously bring american clans to tears and frustration. I was in ViRuS when the game called Ghost Recon was introduced,
and I remember how everybody in those days felt that this little game was just going to be a one-night-stand, and then all would prolly go back to play Rogue Spear again. In that period i didnt actually meet any of the players in real life, but I got myself some gay friends, that later on founded a clan called "Core", and most of  those folks i have met in real life.

The only person in ViRuS not later in Core, I have met, was "The Beast".
And seldom have I met a guy with a more pleasant life-attitude, and positive way of handling ppl.

Dutchman
(hey honey), i have visited several times. Dutchie lives in the same city as Sjaky.
Very convenient.

Kinetic
...you netfone whore...I have met Kinetic several times too.
Both in Holland for LANparties, and at his home in Gent, Belgium.

Ross
...the waterfall of words from Scotland.
I have met Ross too, and he was almost as talkative in real life, as he is on GR.

EUR-Clan
Last summer I had a brief and happy period in the EUR-clan, before i and the rest of the hardcores from virus formed the Core-clan. I am still the best of friends with the EUR-folks, and for those who dont know them: If you once get to be friends with EUR, they look after you, much more than you will prolly ever know.

From EUR I have had the pleasure to meet

EUR-RedDust : mmm...great summerexperience.

EUR-Neutron : Happy days in Münich. My first time ever to wear Lederhosen.
Neutron was at a turning point in his life, and im so happy to see how it all has turned out for him.

EUR-Kickass: Yo baby, Beyond desctiption. Im still curious why you didnt go with that chick home, that night in Berlin. Great days together.

Core-clan
Well, as described, many ofthe ppl in Core comes from our little battleteam in ViRuS, so you can just look above. Besides that, I hope to meet more of them during this spring. I was t-h-i-s close to meet Sinister,
but then he missed his plane in London, and couldnt make it. Or rahter - he didnt know that he had to check-in his Apple G4, and couldnt bring it as handluggage.

And then - like others here have mentioned - I have met a lot of other guys from GR, whom i havent shared clan with. Especially the weirdoes from Zurich comes to mind. SPU-clan they called themselves.

And then....of course I recall the meeting wiht Mauti very well. Besides his cheating in console-gaming,
I also remember him for driving his little red car even worse than i can treat my motorbike.
This summer Mauti came up here to my summerhouse together with a friend, and we got to know each other more intense than possible in the online world.

And so on and so on...sry for boring you to death, but this topic kinda carried me away.

Best regards

I've only been there after transfering from a Apple Specialist Store in Colorado last May. Just to let you know next month I will be planting 50 DP 2.5 G5's with an DP 2.3 G5 xServe, in a major law firm here in Seattle. So sleep well knowing that Macuber's putting a dent in Microsloth's neighborhood.

Meh..

New Zealand is so far away from the rest of the world Sad I doubt I'll meet many people from my clan or Gameranger. Especially since my clan is so spread out - We have members from New Zealand, Australia, singapore, Norway, Germany and America - so yeah, no lan party for us. I have met [a] kiwi, but that's coz he lives 20 minutes from me....and I got to ride in his porche Grin (what is it with chicks and fast cars....jeeez Roll Eyes)

Perhaps when I visit my sister in Arizona later this year, I might get a chance to meet some of my clan members as well as some of my friends from Gameranger.
