Season X: Admins? Volunteers?
«
on:
January 09, 2005, 12:42:30 am »
Hi,
season X isn't that far away and we need some additions for our admin team. We are looking right now for GameRanger admins and forum admins: GR admins give help in GameRanger and it is required that you are very often online in GameRanger. As Forum admin needs quite good social and writing skills, and should check the forum more than twice daily.
It's a tough job that requires a lot of dedication, although it can be sometimes very ungrateful and it's not uncommon that you get right into the crossfire, it also very probably that you have less time for playing once you are an admin.
I don't want to make this job unattractive with this paragraph however you should know what do you have to expect and what we expect from you ;-) So if you say yes, we expect that you gonna stay with us a complete season, and don't drop out like a dead soldier midseason.
So if you nevertheless want to help out and say let's do this for the community and keep on improving write down your name.
I gonna take a look at it and gonna send you a private message within 48hours.
Have a nice day,
Mauti

Well, since Harvey is a GameRanger admin, is there anything stopping us from having two admins in the same clan if one is a GR Admin and the other is a forum admin? I was offered the job of BL Admin several seasons back, when I was in |GM|, but I gave it to Harvey because he wanted the job too. So if there is no problem with having two different types of BL Admins from the same clan, then I would volunteer to be a Forum admin. Hell, I'm on the forum pretty much all day at work and all night at home anyways.
Peace.

P.S. I think I would make a great admin because I already know how to color all of my posts

The thing I'd like to see is an admin with some experience. I'm sick and tired of having a ton of newbies as the *DBL admin team.
The more things people have seen, the more informed they can be in their decisions. Also, get someone whose willing to stand up for what they believe, not someone whose going to back into pressure to "follow the admin line".
GhostSniper, I wub ya, I think you'd make a fine BL admin, but you know as well as I do that it'll never happen with Mauti, Flies and Civic running the BL. I mean, let's face it, 3 people who can best be decribed with a 4 letter word ( 5 if it's plural ) that rhymes with azzi.
Out of the people who've thrown their names in so far, I think only Spike comes anywhere near having what it takes. He's smart, he's got a decent amount of experience, and I'd trust him to stand up for what is right.
Remember, though, guys. Once you sign on as an admin, you must release any logical thoughts from your mind, because they'll never be used during your job as an admin.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Macuber. Just out of curiosity, I noticed your avatar is the Vietnam Service Medal (well, the ribbon for the medal, anyhow). Are you a Vietnam Vet?

Well To answer your Question GS about there being 2 admins from the same clan.... I stepped Down from my admin position at the end of the Turnies due to lack of time right now. So there would not be an issue of 2 BTs admins if you were to become one. I also think the GS would be a good Forum Admin b/c he is on the forum 75% of the day.. I have also made a few other sugestions for admins b4 i left the admin team...
To My former Admin teams mates.. Its been fun.. Thx guys....I'm working on opeing a new club right now.. So now I have even less time then when I anounced my resignation from the team... Hope to see you guys in at least a few CB's next season if I have time.

Typhy if you don't have anything to add to this topic, let it be. Your unconstructive energy won't be tolerated anymore here. See this as may your last warning. Further it was you that misused his power as admin, changed clanstatus, reactivated clans without the knowledge of the other admins, you just did it because you thought it is your opinion and so it must be the right one. That and the unwillingness to work as team was the reason you got kicked as admin.
@ GhostSniper I'm aware that he is very often online, which would be great for being him a BL forum admin, however in his past he showed more than once what he thinks about europeans, which may be a big problem if it comes to teamwork. Well each application will get an answer soon.
Bye,
Mauti

TWIMC,
I am a 31 yr old Premium GR, GhR, RvS, and AS player residing in San Francisco USA. Everyone pretty much knows me, I know pretty much everyone. I was a war admin with *AGT* for over a year and I am currently with Po)|. I already know a few damn* admins and a few GR admins*. I have been playing a very long time and know the community very well.
I consider myself fair and tolerant to other people's opinions. I feel that I get along with a wide range of people and age groups. I have good communication skills and I can be decisive when needed.
I am not a frequent poster on Damn* forums. However, I am a frequent surfer of the forums. As far as Game Ranger goes, I am on 'all the time' as a host or player or chat. I would be interested in either as Damn* admin or GR admin. I am leaning towards Game Ranger admin as I spend much more time there. I feel it is my resposibility to give something back.
Regards - KITKAT

Mauti, if you think I really have a problem with Europeans, then you don't know me at all. Hell, I MARRIED A EUROPEAN! It isn't Europeans that I dislike, it is the Socialist Governments that are now so prevalent in Europe that bother me. I just don't see eye to eye with governments like that. I have nothing against any group of people in Europe, not even the French. I've spent a lot of time in Europe, especially Germany (when it was West Germany), Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland. My parents are missionaries in Belgium right now turning a 500-year-old castle into a Christian College.
So, if it's the Europeans you think I dislike, you are wrong. Sure, I don't like some of the anti-American attitudes I see from Europeans, but I love all people. And remember, I sleep with an Austrian every night.
P.S. Teamwork is something you would never have a problem with me....I was a U.S. Army Ranger who has worked with the Special Forces and anti-Terrorist Groups of most of the nations in Europe, and around the world. And that's REAL LIFE, not some game.

It seems I formulated it wrong, so sorry about that, I don't wanted to say that you dislike europeans in general, I wanted to refer to some of your posts and reactions in the issue between Typhy and Civic not that long ago and I think that this will be a problem, next to some others.
However if I come back soon enough from university tonight everyone should get my answer and thoughts per pm or email, you of course as well.
Bye,
Mauti

Hey same here! I mean...yeah...nevermind.
If you want european experience, I spent nine months studying in Italy my junior year of high school. Being 19 and in a pretty easy college means I can do pretty much what I want with my time, which would allow me to check the forums regularly. I've been on GR for three or so years, and I've been reading the forums for most of that time. I started out playing RS:UO, played a little GhR, got RvS when it came out, and now I play primarily CoD and AS. I would like to be an admin, and would take the responsbility seriously. But hey, if someone else gets picked, I'll just continue concentrating on whoring myself up in the GG.

Spike lol you don't have to be european to be an admin: Tigah, Harv, Typhy, Hazard, Inf, KoP, Voodoo,... weren't from europe. My comment was only towards GS.

Add me to the list of those who would like to be considered as a forum admin. Anyone who knows me from AA knows that I can be immensely patient and tolerant. I am a very pro-European American, which can come in handy to counterbalance the overzealous psuedo-patriotic American rhetoric that seems to sprut from American based shooters.
