Alright, maybe you can help me since Apple Tech Support is completely worthless.

I've got a 1GHZ TiBook with a Super Drive.

Anyway, it's not spinning up CDs/DVDs.

This problem started about a week ago. I'd be watching a DVD, and after about 45 minutes, the DVD would start freezing every 3 minutes or so - after about 15 minutes of that, it'd be down to freezing every 2 seconds. If I ejected the DVD, it wouldn't let me put it back in ( it'd just spit it out ).

However, the problem would go away as soon as I restarted ( and then repeat itself after 45 minutes of playing ).

Now though, it won't even let me stick the DVD in at all. ( Yes, I've tried like 10 different DVDs and like 10 CDs ).

Any suggestions?

Only one thing to do...

Take it out back to a nice, quiet place.  Then shoot it.

Shots were nearly fired in my discussing with it last night. Any other suggestions?

Okay Typhy, if you can't get it working and decide to chunk it....

Send it to me, I'll hit it dead center from 800 yards with a .308 round and then send you a picture of it.

Sorry, Typhy. There's only one thing left to do:

Ah, a laptop!  Send me the whole thing then!  I'll give it a "proper" funeral.

I've never put a WHOLE laptop to sleep before.

I bet with something as big as a laptop, I could probably hit it from 1,000 yards.  hehehe

Have you tried calling customer support?

And GS, bet with the m-84 you dould take it out from 2000 yards...if the damn thing was running that is. BTW, best means of sending it on its way on must be by multi-purpose.

Ok, seemingly impossible twist. . . My Super Drive problems are related to my External HD ( Maxtor 160GB drive ). I unplug the HD, everything works great.

I first started noticing problems with that HD a few months ago. It refused to mount, yet it caused crashing, so I left it unplugged for a month or so and had no problems. Now that I plugged it back in, my Super Drive stopped working, I didn't put the two together until tonight, when the External HD starting being a pain in the ass again, so I unplugged it --- suddenly, my drive works great.

The Barrett .50 cal sniper rifle is called the M82 you noob.

And although I don't currently own an M82 (I plan on getting one soon...never know when a robber is going to be driving up in an armored get-away car!), my Remington 700 chambered in .308 cal will do just fine (the civilian equivalent to the M24 sniper rifle).
