Yah.  Those are a mistake and were withdrawn quickly.  However, the very fact that they were sent adds confusion to the election there.

My read is it's an "oops", one that would fuck Bush as much as Kerry.

I mean, if you're a Bush supporter there just nowhere for you to vote. And if you're smart and realize the holes have just been dropped down one, you're still marking the spot next to Kerry... which would make you shit bricks.

So it's no good for anyone.  Chalk this one up to stupid people.

is that how a typical ballot looks in the USA? (more or less?)
'cause if it is, it looks like only people with a college degree are allowed to vote.

That Dutch machine from that far away looked pretty complicated...what's it like up close?

Yeah...a lot of US paper ballots have the "connect the arrows" system...others a hole punch...others you just put your vote into a computer, which eats it and decides to vote the way it was programmed  Wink

Oh and I'm sure this is horribly incorrect, but I'm going to try and use some of my limited Dutch vocabulary:

Every ballot I've ever filled out here in Colorado has been scantron fill in the bubble...fairly straightforward. It seems a bit awe-inspiring the stupidity of some ballot creators how they can actively seek out a worse style ballot.

1. Take ballot paper

2. View List of parties to choose between on ballart paper (noramlly between 6 and 9)

3. Mark a big X in the box by the party your voting for

4.The end.

5.No really. thats it.
