I found this on Macminute:
Altec Lansing AHS602 Gaming Headset
It looks like a great Headset, they only thing I'm missing is USB compatibility...
You need the iMic (wich I have) to use it on a mac.

Nah. Plantronics DSP 500 is far superior. (even the 400 for that matter)
http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/cat640035/cat1430032/prod440044
Ask anyone who has used any plantronics headsets.

Sentinel, I have the iMic too, did you buy that headset or someone you know? Have you tested it?
Myst, same question to you for the Plantronics.
I am looking to buy a new headset for gaming (mostly) but I don't know how I feel about the headsets with the mic going around the face, like Plantronice DSP 500. Thoughts?

Nomad, the mic is completely adjustable. I personally own the DSP 400 cause tis cheaper, like me. But I tried the DSP 500 and it has superb sound quality. The DSP 400 is great for games, but perhaps not the best when it comes to some sort of music freak listening to music. The DSP 500 has better head phones and has amazing sound quality. The USB really kicks it up a notch. Well worth it's price and so is the DSP 400. for further info read reviews favorable to it

I own a mono plantronics DSP 100 and it is very very nice. I bought a altec for home and some other brand and I they are shit in comparison, and they are stereo headphones. Plus everyone on the other end of the mic says I sound much clearer and better.

i absolutely dislike headsets.
every time a headset-user who i'm connected to on NF touches it... only a lil... my head could explode! it doesnt matter what kind of headset it is... all headsets makethis terrible noise when you touch em. the sound quality of headsets is by far not as good as of external USB mics.
i recommend to use a good external USB mic with mute button feature etc... together with a good pair of headphones.
that's what i use:
? Labtec Verse 704 (external USB mic)
with
? Phillips SBC HP800 (closed, sound-isolating headphones)

I had a Labtec Verse 704 + a Koss U19's (which were very nice) but I couldn't stand leaning over every damn time I had to talk.
Before that I had a Logictec headset but the sound stopped comming out of my left ear then the mic stopped working.
So now I have Sennheiser PC 155 usb headset which I love, they're so confortable and the sound quality is excellent.

Personal preference. You get a good headset like a plantronics you'll love it. You get a shitty one (ie Snipe) you'll hear the person breathing, and all that shit. Go plantronics for headsets. I bet logitech would have good mics, but their headsets are less than perfect.
myst=heaset lover.
Plus plantronics has really good customer service. I got mien replaced no questions when one side of the audio stopped working.

While we're on the subject of headeset's maybe you guys can help. The same problem has happened to both of my headsets, after about 2-3 months probably not even that the sound stops comming out of the left ear. I've had a Logitech Premium USB headset 300 and just a set of Koss U19 headphones. Could I just be unlucky? or is this a system error?...if so what can i do to stop it?

It's not that I have a shitty headset (I use my SOCOM Headset, btw). It's that I need to figure out how to place it. For input, I use the microphone on the headset. For output, I use my other set of headphones (SOCOM headsets only have one earpiece, so you don't get the stereo sound, which can make RvS really confusing). What this has led to is me putting the headset on my head along with my other headphones, so the SOCOM earpiece is somewhere around my temple, which means the mic is right in front of my mouth, hence myst being able to hear me breathe.
I think I'm going to have to improvise a mic/headset stand.

Sent. I own a Plantronics DSP 500. I recommend you buy it but look to pay around 55 bucks. Its the best Headset ive ever used. You hear things most dont and will get the edge on those who dont have it. I heard Myst say somethin about it and just wanna back him up in saying the DSP 500 owns.

Myst, quick question, where did you buy it from? ONline? store? can I find it from some computer/electronics store here in Toronto? Also, you said the mic is adjustable, does that mean I can remove it if I want or simply move it out of the way?
I also want to read the specs, I only like headsets that are light, that you dont even realize that you have them on. I have Sony's MDR-W24, its an older model but still good and the sound quality is good (not amazing, but good) and is amazingly light, to the point that so many times I forget that I have it on and when I get up to leave the room, I almost get whiplashed cuz the headset wires remind me that I'm still attached

Nomad, the DSP 400 I have is very light. Cant comment on the DSP 500 weight, never really took note. I can't remember where I bought mind some small company around here. just search the web nomad you'll find a good store, try if you can to buy it directly in store, not online.

My pal recently bought a Sennheiser PC150 headset after owning several plantronics sets, and there's just no comparison. Great sound even at high volumes, and from what other accross the net have told me, the mic does a great job of cancelling noise and not picking up breath.
And a note about the plantronics, he went through 3 or 4 headsets. The mics just kept farting out, and then one of the channels would go as well after only a couple monthsluckily, they were all replacedunder warranty, but he got tired of it and bought a *real* headset.
Personally, however, I prefer surround speakers and a mic, but for those late nights I reccomend the sennheisers. they have other sets, including isolation/noise cancelling, and they all sound primo.

Ive heard about Sennheiser. Good choice along with the DSP 500. If u are looking for either u will not be able to find them in stores. Both headsets have to be purchased over the internet. Sorry dudes!

Not true rebel. I was able to see several DSP 500s along side DSP 400s in a display-case at the store where I purchased my DSP400.

Wow, I never imagined this thread was gonna get so much attention
To assure you Myst I got a Plantronics Audio 90 (analog) connected to my iMic.
http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/products/cat640035/cat1430032/prod440020
Before I had the headset, I used an earbud as a microphone (the earbud was connected to my mixer to amplify it and then connected to my G3) it worked, but wasn't perfect, you can ask onwig, he had to deal with the noise.
The reason I mentioned the headset was because it uses a patented soundreproduction, quote from the website:
Quote
Altec Lansing?s AHS602 features SRS 3-D Audio technology, an audio enhancement technology that provides a realistic and spacious listening experience through headphones. This award-winning technology retrieves the spatial information from surround recordings and restores the original three dimensional sound field. Games and movies have never sounded better!
But I'm glad most of you have the same brand of headset, I thought mine was just an advanced piece of pc-crap.
Edit: I also have a wireless Sennheiser Headphone, but the quality is a bit bad compared to the price I paid for it. My Sony headphone is better, but the Plantronics is the best, great noise reduction and great BASS.
