I would just like to say brilliant. You can tell they really trust each other.

The thing is this group is a rubber stamp group. UN observers would be better, they are after all the defacto standard.

This is actually a pretty smooth dodge by the Bush admin. They refused to allow UN observors, but, they deflect criticism by allowing this group to observe.

And here's another thing: don't you find it ridiculous that we need international observors? Just shows you how far this country has sunk while under the Bush regime.

i wouldnt use the term "ridiculous", i'd prefer "sad". But as you noted, its all thanks to Bush.

On the same topic, i read an article this morning stating that a whole bunch of artist including singers (Bruce Springsteen, Dixie chicks, Pearl Jam, CCR, Dave Matthews's Band...) and writters (Salman Rushdie, Paul Auster, Laurie Anderson, Russel Banks... ) united to criticize Bush's policy. Its good to see that the era of silence has finally come to an end.

Yah. The good news is that Kerry's going to win by a landslide, so all the dirty tricks that the Repubs throw won't matter. Bush is the presidential equivilant of DOA.

I am ashamed that my country needs international observors in order to validate our elections. And it is all thanks to the Republicans.

Era of silence? What do you Euros think the many Americans are doing over here for the past 3 years. It has been a very vocal political atmosphere for quite some time.

bobby, political debate fluctuates, but never silences. yes, right now it's very hot, because it's all been building up. and all those musical artists and actors taking a stand...they're just doing what every other person in america does, but only they are in a position to put their voices out further. and i can garuntee you that at least half of them have gotten some kind of word from their agents to speak up in order to gain more view in the public eye. it's trendy for them.
