BF1942 got a big thumbs-down from me, both in SP & MP.  It's like UT2k4 in WW2, except with worse graphics, physics, vehicles, and maps, and a slim shred of attempted historical accuracy that falls flat on its face.

(lone, just because I hate GhR doesn't mean I will make sure I say it in all posts related to the subject)

You don't see UT2k4 demo doing well. Or AA skyrocketing because it's free. In fact last I checked, the mac AA community is very small, lacks any active clans, and couldn't take part in PC CBs (before gamespy even). UT2k4 demo rooms anyone?

i didn't say anything about if it's good or bad, Lovewolf. my point is that the demo is free and games that couldn't get pirated easily (with individual MP serials; example: CoD) or were free from start never really were successful on GameRanger.

i'm excited how the full game of BF1942 will do on GameRanger, since it uses an individual MP serial (right?).

No Civic - although you get 2 serials with your BF box, one is for the original game, and the other for the expansion pack "Road to Rome". Anyway, BF in single play doesn't make much sense, so the point is moot.

umm, what i meant as "individual MP serial" is a serial that if once used online, it cant be used online by someone else again. it's not shareable.

does BF1942 have such a serial or not? Undecided

ah! a slight misunderstanding on my side.

yes, it does check for a valid serial with gamespy's servers, and you can't play with the same serial twice. But, you can install the game on more than one computer and play on each, just not at the same time.

Quake 3 was the worst game ever. It had worse graphics than UT and was just more chaotic. It also seemed to be slower paced.
