Moore may be crazy and a lier, but he makes a point. We already get lies every day through our media. So why not hear the opposite side.

Yeah, go see the stupid movie.  Its box office opening weekend is the 222nd Biggest Opening for a weekend in the history of movie-making.  lol....222nd?  You call that a great movie?  Hell, "Starsky & Hutch" had a bigger box office opening than this movie.  Yet all I see in all the Box Office sites is how this movie broke all these records.  It broke records for a DOCUMENTARY.  Whoop de doo.  I, however, will not be wasting my money.

Still wrong....if it was so popular, it would have been shown on over 3,000 theaters.

But it was popular in the 868 theaters it showed up in. And it is a documentary, so you can't really compare it to the hollywood Starsky and Hutch. That's a horrible comparison

F 9/11 is the most successful documentry ever -- and that's just after opening weekend!

Additionally, it cost $6 million to make. So, it's profitablity is very high. It recooped it's cost and turned a profit in one day, and that with only the 800 or so odd theaters it was in. Starsky and Hutch, meanwhile, cost $60 million to make and grossed domestically only $88 million. It's profitablity was rather low, comparatively.

Furtherr, F 9/11 has want we like to call "legs" -- postive word of mouth and a high profile. Expect the movie to maintain, or dare I say increase it's earnings on a day to day basis next week.

Finally, 222nd biggest opening ever of all movies? Think about how many movies have been made. Think about how many movies are made per year and then belittle this opening.

People in Hollywood are shocked -- outright shocked -- at the money it made. We felt the same way when the PASSION came out.

The nicest thing out of all of this is that we're going to see a lot more liberal films -- blatantly liberl -- now. Cause there oddles of money in it.

And GS, you are completely wrong about "if it was so popular it would have been shown in 3,000 theaters". There are two reasons why you're wrong. First, Lionsgate is not a big time distributor with the bankroll to cash 3,000 screens. Second, F 9/11, as big as the hype, is a small movie. Screen buys like Starsky are reserved for what studios think will be their big blockbuster movies. And no one thought F 9/11 would do so well as it has. Expect to see an increase in theaters. Cause nearly every theater it was at was sold out.

and i might something.

Why is it distributed by Lionsgate and not Miramax ? Because Miramax is a affiliated to Disney, and that Disney is getting a big tax discount in the State of Florida. So basically if they were to allow Miramax to distribute that documentary, it would have meant the end of their tax break because who is gouvernor of the State of Florida Huh

I had a meeting at Miramax last week and they are not even allowed to talk about F 9/11 -- Disney is in the process of destroying Miramax and any mention of the film might get the company in trouble. It had to be personally purchased from Disney outside of Miramax. The exec did't know if the company will be around for much longer. Eisner has made it his personal vengance on the Bros to punish them for outmanuevering him.

Sum of it is that Miramax may be destroyed soon.

Honestly, GS, I'd go see it if I were you. I know that personally, I would go see a movie made by Bill O'Reilly or Ann Coulter not because I like or support them in any way, but because they have different views and opinions on things than I do and I think it's healthy to get a diverse perspective on things.

I probably wouldn't go opening night and would probably catch a matinee instead of prime time, but I would go. If nothing else, it would give me plenty of ammo for the next flame war. Grin

One final note, you can't talk intelligently about a movie you haven't seen.

Yeah, but if I go, I might throw-up on someone because of the graphic liberal crap I might see....then I would end up in a fist fight with some idiotic liberal for throwing up on him.....then I would have to kill him with my bare hands.....then I would go to jail.....just a big mess.  I better stay away for everyone elses safety.[/size]   Wink

Or you might cry when the mother who lost her son reads his last letter home.

Or cringe when American soldiers joke about an Iraqi they just captured, and how they grabbed his nuts and he got a boner.

those are just two examples of my emotions during the film

Oh, don't worry about that. The theatre I was at had ample garbage cans and all were easily accessable. Wink

I don't think it's just liberals who are going either. The area I live in is very conservative by nature and I seriously doubt it would have sold out every show all weekend if it were only liberals going. The first day maybe, but all weekend?

I would honestly rather toss that .2 cents into the ocean than support something that I oppose so strongly.  One thing you will find about me is that I stand up for what I believe in.  Even when it isn't popular, even when nobody else thinks it's right, even if I may be dead wrong.  I stand up for what I believe in.  Honor.  Integrity.  God.  Country.  These are things that define who I am.  These things I will defend with my life.

Peace.
