In all honesty I'm unsure whether to cheer his fall or not. Because he clearly is the fall guy for the Admin. Tenet is a good man doing a hopeless, thankless job. He's also a good soldier, protecting his president despite the incredible incompetency. He's taken more than his fair share of blows since Bush came into office.

Essentially, I think he needed to go, but going when he did functions to distract us from the real evil in the White House and the Admin. Bush, Chency, Rice, Rumsfield, etc.

And here's some more timing issues:

Yesterday Bush contacted a private lawyer in regards to the investigation into who leaked the name of a CIA agent to the media.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A12499-2004Jun3.html

>>>
Bush did not answer a reporter's question on whether he had received any indication from prosecutors that they want to question him about the leak or on what he might be able to tell them that would shed light on the case.

"This is a criminal matter," Bush said. "It's a serious matter. I met with an attorney to determine whether or not I need his advice, and if I deem I need his advice I'll probably hire him."
<<<

Also, Tenet was about to be put in charge of the inquiry into who gave Ahmad Chalabi secret information on our intelegence gathering abilty re: Iran.

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=5329346

>>>
The Bush administration told Congress on Wednesday it will probe whether one-time ally Ahmad Chalabi undermined U.S. security and officials said the FBI was investigating who leaked top secret information to the former Iraqi exile that allegedly was given to Iran

[...]

On Capitol Hill, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice said CIA Director George Tenet also would be conducting an inquiry, lawmakers said after a closed-door briefing.
<<<

As Chalabi says, "(Tenet) was behind the charges against me that claimed that I gave intelligence information to Iran. I denied these charges and I will deny them again.''

http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/AP-Iraq-Chalabi-Tenet.html

And we all know how close Chalabi was to this White House. Tenet's resignation is part of a "oooh! look behind you!" shell game. Tenet's become the news, when what everyone should be talking about is why Bush needs a private lawyer to defend him in regards to a federal crime and why is Tenet being fired on the eve of chairing the investigations into who leaked top secret intelegence to an Iranian spy.

Oh, there's a torture scandal in Iraq, a quagmire in Iraq, flautly planning for the war, forced-re-drafting of US soldiers --- and fucking Rumsfield is still in office.

wtf?

Come on, there was no need to have a triple post. - assassin

i think we all agree that Tenet is one of Bush's fuzes. But the guy, as head of the US intelligence community, has to take respnsability for 9/11 and Irak, two very big mistakes that cant go unpunished.

You are a fucking idiot.  Tenet was put in that position by Bill Clinton, not George Bush.  He is a hold-over from the Clinton administration who has been in office for 7 years (today was his 7th anniversary in that position).  If you want to know who is REALLY responsible for the Terrorist attacks on 9/11, I think you need to go talk to Osama Bin Laden.  And if you want to blame anyone for intelligence failures in this country, you need to go hang Bill Clinton from the highest tree, because he is the fucker that layed waste to our entire intelligence community while he was in office for 8 years getting blow jobs in the Oval Office.

Actually, Bill Clinton had plans to take out Osama Bin Laden, but they were scrapped once Bush went into office because he felt they weren't necessary. Just thought I'd let you know.

Ahhh, something I can really sink my teeth into.

"You are a fucking idiot." -- no, Bob's not. While Clinton appointed Tenet and used him for three years Bush kept Tenet when he stole the election and continued to use him after 9/11 and after the stove piping of intelegence pre-our war of aggression in Iraq. Um, maybe Tenet is the root of all our bad things but who kept him there? Frankly, Tenet has been a very loyal soldier to Bush. He's taken a lot fo heat, he's let the blame for pre-war intel failures be laid at his feet when it should be laid at the Pentagon's and Cheny's. He's retiring, quietly, and most likely won't stab Bush in the back after being stabbed in the back himself for four years.

"If you want to know who is REALLY responsible for the Terrorist attacks on 9/11, I think you need to go talk to Osama Bin Laden." -- wouldn't it be nice if Bush took your advice and tried to find Binny, rather than, oh, say invade a country that had nothing to do with the sort of terrorism that struck America low? I wonder why Bush has stopped talking about Bin Laden ... ? Perhaps is cause the Bin Ladens are close family friends of the Bush's, as illustrated by the carefully planed evacuation of ALL Bin Laden's in America just days  after 9/11?

"And if you want to blame anyone for intelligence failures in this country, you need to go hang Bill Clinton from the highest tree, because he is the fucker that layed waste to our entire intelligence community while he was in office for 8 years getting blow jobs in the Oval Office." -- Rauuught. I guess the massive attacks during the millenium that he stopped were, like, no big deal. Oh, did you forget that their was a massive al Queda attack that the US foiled just before 2000? Or how we stopped a plan by al Queda to hijack a dozen 747s over the pacific and blow them all up? Both, foiled, by Clinton's worthless, gutted intel gooks.

And I won't even mention how Clinton's military conquered Iraq.

Oh, and Bush's four years are, like, what? Not counted? You seem to forget, you worthless pus-filled sack of horse shit, that someone other than Clinton has been in power for the last 3 1/2 years. And his last name is Bush. Guess who's CIA chief is retiring in disgrace?

And guess what Bush did as soon as he became president, right after the out going Clinton administration begged him to go after Bin Laden? He forgot about it. Remember how Cheny was put in charge of a anti-terrorism task force right after the election? I wonder why you forget that? Maybe it's because HE DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT TERRORISM FOR OVER A HUNDRED DAYS IN OFFICE. The Justice department, in an odd twist of hilarious fate, prioritized fighting terrorism right below fighting porn.

Being the anti-Clinton ppl they are, Bush and Co. decided to do everything exactly the opposite of what Clinton did. What they did, thusly, was ignore terrorism.

Remember how someone leaked the name of a CIA agent involved in anti-nuclear-proliferation? It's all the Bushites, dood, not Clinton. That's the neo-cons in the Pentagon and White House, those who stove piped false intel from bad sources like Ahmed Chalabi (who we now know has leaked the most sensitive of sensitive intel to our dire enemies the Iranians). It's the people who were warned in 2000 that Bin Laden and the threat of terrorism was the number one threat to America - and were ignored. It's the President who received a briefing from Tenet intitled "Bin Laden determined to strike in US", a report filled with such juicy tid-bits like NYC, World Trade Center, Washington D.C.

Clinton, at least, was a patriot and competitent. Bush is neither. He's not fit to wash Clinton's feet. Hell, he's not fit to breath the same air as Clinton. He's not fit to breath.

Just ask yourself, if Clinton was in office from 2000 on would you be so full of praise for him, as you are Bush? What would you have said afte 9/11? After Afghanistan and not catching Bin Laden? After invading Iraq against the will of the entire world? Huh? What?

For ppl like you you, just rememeber: the blood of each soldier, each civilian contractor, each Iraqi soldier, each Iraqi mother, daughter, wife, husband, son, baby .... that blood is on your hands. It is the shit you swim in everyday, wacko, only you don't realize the flith that sorrounds you and permiates this nation, these days, as our so called leaders ruin all the Good in the world in our name.

"Some people are such fucking morons." -- yep.

Sounds like the truth hit a little close to home that time. Better take off before you're forced to realize that you are wrong and are horribly blinded by your prejudices. Yeah, it's definitely better to self-censor yourself before you accidentally hear what the other side is saying.

And another thing: living in a democracy means living in a "forum" (if you will) of open ideas. I think your brother understands that, which may be why he posts so much. If you choose to not participate then you have no voice. I'd rather have you having your say because to me that means I'm living, breathing the democratic ideal - communication between those that disagree, even tho it be heated and harsh. But if you do participate, you need to participate as an adult, with as much reason, logic, and yes passion as possible. Again, I think you're brother understands that. Which is why he has my grudging respect, if even I don't show it much.

You are another story.

Even Rumsfield's wife agrees with me: he's not doing enough to catch Bin Laden:

>>>
Donald Rumsfeld has admitted that his wife often needles him about the whereabouts of Osama Bin Laden - often just after they wake up.

"When I walk out of the bedroom in the morning, my wife frequently rolls over and says, 'Where's UBL?'" he said, referring to the spelling "Usama".

Mr Rumsfeld insisted the search for Bin Laden was as concentrated as ever.

Speaking to sailors and marines aboard the USS Essex in Singapore, Mr Rumsfeld did not reveal how he responds to his wife's teaser.

What?  Seeing as we don't know if Tenet could have stopped the 9/11 attacks or not, and that we have no idea whether the treatment of prisoners in Iraq had anything to do with him or not, I disagree that he should have to take responsibilty for things he had no control over.

Tenet is merely the scapegoat of the Bush Administration.  He was most likely asked to step down by Bush, because he wants to take some sort of blame off himself.

I've wanted to post this picture. It's been bothering me all day. Honestly I makes me choke up. But it's not the picture so much as the picture and the caption whcih begins, "American soldier's lie on the ground."

When you see it you'll know what I mean.

I'm really upset.

it makes me think of all the war games we've played. How we cheer when we take down someone, blow up a tank, laugh when we nade a teammate ...

The avatar just lays there on the ground with it's flase blood seeping out. and then I see this.

Guys, just remember that my brother is still currently IN the military and on top of that is in a combat arms career field.  He doesn't tolerate things quite the way I do.  I used to be just like him, but 4 years in the Air Force after my Army time, and then another 6 years as a civilian has really mellowed me out a bunch.  When you are in a career field such as his, you have to be arrogant, gung-ho, and confident in all you believe if you want to survive in war.  He will mellow out years from now, just as I did.

lol....but if you say something he doesn't like, just don't say it in person....cause while I would probably just laugh it off, he would more than likely break your arm.   Wink
