Greetings all - I've been lurking around, on and off, for some time now, and I thought the time might have come to sign on and post...

First off, BIG thanks to Mauti for making my GR experience so much more, well, *experiential*.  Frostbite especially, but also for all those other mod conversions to Mac... and of course this site!

I've also posted this idea over at ghostrecon.net - but I'll hope you'll excuse my breach of protocol in light of what *might* be a good idea?!

Having just tried Apollo's "Free Lybia" (with mixed success probably due to my slightly grumpy old Mac) I've been thinking about work-arounds for hardcoded but triggerable airstrike support (which I know has been a thorny topic in the past).  And, on a basis of using the effects and triggers I've noticed in GR so far, my thoughts go something like this:

1 - Go through all or most of the "standard" GR / major expansion maps - Origmiss, DS, IT and Frostbite - designating say 5 known enemy strongpoints, bunkers or fixed AA installations in each map, with triggerable effects as below. Then, in game...

2 - As commander of, say, A squad, put your squad on Hold so they can't move and get themselves in trouble, call up the command map and use the waypoint system to designate the enemy bunker you want to bust as A squad's next waypoint. Hit a keystroke (say B for bust?) to confirm. A delay of, say 1 minute 30 secs will have been coded into the mod script to simulate air force response time - when that time is up, the bunker you've "lased" will duly erupt in a howling fireball of effects (probably leaving it intact, if burning, and naturally killing the enemy inside).

Would this work? - and would it be generally-releasable in the same way as the Enemy Realism mod?

Thanks for reading this, guys - my apologies if I'm retreading old ground here, and you've already tried this and dismissed it - but I thought it might add a little entertainment value, if nowt else...

Theo

(Edit: I'd have tried this myself already - but being on a Mac I can't get into IGOR and play... I don't think?)
