4. Herbie

To be more exact: Air Force Special Operations Command at Herbie

Nope....but I was stationed at Hurlburt Field, FL (Herbie) while I was in the Air Force.

Guys, another hint.....I served in COMBAT.....now unless I'm mistaken, we haven't had too many instances within the United States for me to be in combat.  This place is NOT INSIDE THE UNITED STATES.

Well, considering GS was only in the army between 1990 and 1994; there are only two "official" conflicts the US was involved in during that time he could have fought in: Iraq and/or Somalia.

Now, it's entirely possible he fought in a lesser known conflict the general public doesn't know about, but I doubt he'd tell us about it here, so those are my guesses: Iraq and/or Somalia.

How many people actually knew the crap they were writing on the board without using a search engine to find it? Personally, I knew of 1,3,5,7,8, and 9.

As for number 4, it all depends on your definition of "combat" if the answer is indeed Somalia.

Actually, it wasn't Iraq or Somalia.  And although we were there later "officially", at the time we were not officially there.  The only reason I can say I was there now is that it has recently become declassified.

Um, I knew the answer to ALL OF THEM without looking them up.   Wink

It was combat.  Horrible combat.  House-to-house fighting in a war-torn land.  We were there much later in an "official" capacity, but at the time it was very much a classified operation.  It became declassified just this year (took 10 years, but now I can talk about it!).  So that means this was in 1994.

Well, if it was classified then it can't be Haiti. My next guess is Serbia.

Beyond that I have no idea, I'd have to do some research.

Well, one of you guessed Bosnia, and I said that was close.  Now you are guessing Serbia.....and again you are very close.  It was in fact a former part of Yugoslavia.  2 ex-Yugoslavia states down.....

And we were there later in a much larger capacity.
