Hello,

I wanted to play with my friend a couple of rounds of Ghost Recon. But it had some very strange sounds. About a minute in the Team Selection Screen it crashed. The Ghost Recon Window went grey and i got an Kernel Panic Error Message!
I cant even play a Single Player Mission! The same things happen, but I tried to start a game, the program exits unexpectly.
I just installed MacOS X Jaguar 10.2.8 only some hours before. I thought I dont have OpenGL installed, but i got a search result with 2 Data OpenGL, 1 folder with that name and one extension!! I didnt installed anything before, i only updated my System and so on. So I didnt installed any OpenGL drivers on my own, after the installation process of Ghost Recon (I only installed Ghost Recon and my system)!!!

suggestions:

1. Wipe GhR completely and do a complete resh install of the game. (make sure you delete preference files etc)

2. Make sure you have up to date drivers for your graphics card whatever that might be.

3. Run your disk utilities to check for any hidden issues the sytem might be suffering from.

4. Have a look at the crash logs!!!

Run disk permissions at least twice or untill you dont get any error messages.

or

Install 10.3(Panther)  Wink

ie:lots of people including myself had many problems with that last OS update. I had to completly re-initialize my HD because of it.

also, when u re-installed Ghr, did you trash your prefs in the prefs folder?

What do you mean with disk permissions?? Sorry, I am verrrry new to MacOS X and I dont know what you mean... Sad

Do you had probs with 10.2.8?? Or with a version of Panther? So should I maybe only use 10.2.6?(So I would have to reinstall System)

I hadnt any Prefs, in the folder for it.... But after Re-installing GhR all of my settings were gone..

(For only who are interested in it, ore which one could help, I couldnt play Warcraft III, too. But the Games 4x4 Evolution 2, AvP and Baldurs Gate II worked probably....)
Thanks for your help so far(could need a bit more now... Wink )

and its not good. It was screwing my Photoshop up good and proper. good session of Pram zapping did wonders.. Smiley

I'm hoping that after you installed Jaguar, you installed the multitudes of updates via Software Update.  There are quite a few updates concerning the operating system itself, along with graphics support and such.  Personally, You should just get Panther.  You'll thank us all later.

Ok,

I zapped my PRAM! My soundprobs were there. I could play after it about 3 rounds. But in round No.4 the game crashed again(I tried it in Quick Games)...

Sure, I updated mxy whole system to the newest possible Version (10.2.Cool After that I installed all Security Updates for MacOS Jaguar (I used for all updates the Updater Application from Apple!!)! I downloaded and installed the drivers from ATi for MacOS X 10.2.8!!(Someone told me, I could run the App in Classic, by saing, it would have to need to, but I cant check the box, because there is no "USE IN CLASSIC" Check Box... Sad )

It seems it wasnt such a good idea to install 10.2.8 on my PowerMac G3 blue/white...
What can I do now, I am really out of ideas

Are you still getting the same error log now when the game crashes?

are you sure all your ram sticks are ok? if not, try pulling them out one by one, and see if it works then.

hmmmm,

I started to completly reinstall my System. Then I installed the DEMO version of GhR, and it worked very nice... Smiley
Now Iam out with testing the full Version, and it seems it works now. BUT ON 1.0!! (I didnt installed it this time on a external drive! Its on the system one!) There werent no Sound Probs.
Now, next moves will be:
? Going to Aspyr and downloading and installing all the Patches (If they make the Probs, I dont know what to do!!)
?Testing it on normal Versions
?Installing the BL Packs!!
I will write here the "results", okay?

26thmeusoc
P.S. The hole system worked under 9(even the RAM sticks). So I dont think anything from the Hardware has been made "trash-ready" Wink

26,

Here's a little thread that I put up on The .::|N|etwork site that you might find helpful.  We currently do not distribute the actual updates.  We merely post the links to where you may go.  From what I recently found out, all of the links are still working.

You had it installed on an external drive??? Hmm wasn't a USB drive was it!? Would have guessed its Firewire but your problem if it was USB might possibly have been that the data transfer just couldn't keep up with the game.. thus nasty crash's.

Thanks, Noto! This is very helpful  Cheesy

The external drive IS a FireWire Drive. It is 80GB "big" and now in 4 Parts, with 20 GB on each, divided. So I dont think that drive is too slow. Someone told me, that my PCI-Slot is might too slow for using MacOS X and Ghost Recon(I hope he he is wrong with that oppinion )....

I am going to make a full? Single Player, Network and Internet Test today *crossingfingers*

Ok, here are my thoughts. This may be a router/firewall issue. Are you behind a router/firewall? If so you may have to open the ports for GhostRecon. Im pretty positive that GameRanger changes the version of Ghr so that no one can IP join, and if you dont have the ports open this may be causing your problems.

Hey guys,

I think I fixed it. I didnt installed the update for *DBL 2.5(I thought Mauti has updated the installer... Wink )! Now I can even play on the Internet!!  Cheesy Cheesy

Strange thing:
I used over LAN on the Server *DBL 2.5 and and the other one only *DBL 2.0. And it worked nice(I had the same strange "problem", over internet. I tested it with someone at GameRanger and we could play nicely! On other servers my game crashed)!

Thank you all again!
I hope we see us someday at GameRanger Wink!

Weird. ok... um Out of interest when you did the installer last time did it all install in the correct places ect, or did you copy the files accross manually? - just wondering if you could have accidently copied files into your origimiss folder which could have resulted in sevear GhR shits Wink

well.. gl hope it lasts. we'll seeya in a game somtime Smiley
