Mac Shoutcasting Network

Introducing the Mac Shoutcasting Network. I have decided to start up MSN (kinda cheesy eh?). The Mac Shoutcasting Network will be around for one reason, to spectate matches played on the *DAMN ladder and play by play them for later download. What do i mean? Well lemme explain it a little better, lets say ZT and BTs are playing the finals of the GhR ladder. What i do is enter the server along with the members and go as spectator. Throughout the match i will be on my mic giving a play by play of the match (including kills, getting objs) basically getting listeners into the match. After the match is over, using my new audio software junk, i can save the audio as an mp3 file and throw it up on my site for download. This means that people from around the mac community can hear you own a clan or get owned by a clan. Its basically a way to give people a chance to hear what happened during the match rather then just hear about the score and the bitching that takes afterwards. Shoutcasting has been around for a long time in the PC world, such teams are
www.tsncentral.com
have been shoutcasting matches for such ladders as TWL and OGL. Ive listened to many of the shoutcasts u can DL from tsncentral and they sound very good and allow people to hear play by play of the good matches. Right now im in developement of the site and i want to hear what the people of the *DAMN ladder community have to say about the Mac Shoutcasting Network. Reply here with whatcha think questions comments or concerns are very helpful being that im trying to get this thing off the ground!

I like it!
Shoutcast:
"...and GhostSniper peers over the edge of the cliff, lines his scope up on Typhy's left temple, and FIRES! It's a kill, it's a beautiful headshot in the best tradition of the sniper! Typhy is whithering in agony, crying to the heavens...."why me god, why me???" When just then voodoo comes over to try and pick-pocket his dead buddy and BAM! GhostSniper scores another direct headshot!"
ooohhh.....hehehehe

What's to stop someone in the cb from listening in to the play by play, thereby knowing exactly what the other team is doing.
And if your answer is: "no one in the cb is allowed to listen in," then what if someone listening in is then conveying what the other team is doing to the players in the cb.
The play by play would have to be very disciplined. For example, the speaker could only mention kills, and when objectives are taken? anything that both teams in the cb already know about.

Well snipe, I took the liberty of DLing and listening to a match, it's fucking crazy hard to understand, they're all like "Oh Axis go in for a sweep, and exterminate the opposition." and shit, very weird.

ok, i get enough delay off of netphone from my teammates making it hard to know what the hell they are doing and where they got killed. to deal with the delay in the system you're talking about would be insane.
for example we'll take a 4 second long message with the bare minimum facts
call it a half a second to make the call, another half to have someone realize it's useful info and relay the info, and then me recognize, process and act on that info
that's a second before I'm getting the info not counting latency, and IF I'm paying attention solely to the shoutcast it's 5 seconds before i get the info i need and act on it. by the time i react the info is no good
so yea snipe, it can be done, but i'd rather not listen to the shoutcast, kill the extra lag, an be able to hear footsteps than have a constant stream of old info

Yes u can listen to those servers live on iTunes but i dont know how they do it so i wont be able to do it. As of right now im the only one who will be shoutcasting but i will be looking for dedicated others. SRy ghost i wont be shoutcasting matches between a2 and BTs due to the fact ILL BE IN THEM lol. The only problem that has arisen is that of web space. I lack a place to put my site that can hold all the mp3 files and im kinda poor so i dont have the money to purchase any....any ideas?!

Well, does it have to be a problem, because I find it quite uninteresting to be able to listen to some old matches, and I believe the ones that are interested would ask for that audio file right after the game. It could also be a requierment for clans to have these audio files on their website for at least one season, if the wish to have their matches shoutcasted. But there are probably a lot of good ideas on where to store them
love the idea though. "Brutha goes for it, but BFG blows it all because of a foolish nade in the back of bruthas head, killing himself, brutha and doc. What an error in comunications......if only brutha had shouted louder.....awww the horror....pieces of shred :MoD: is spread all over the red square".
yeah...i could definetly see shoutcasting happening.

Well...have to say that I am not sure how we can figure out to shoutcast live....BUT some of my clan mates have been bombarding me with their "radio idiots" live streaming of music on I tunes....would it not be possible to to that with voice? Hell....even Ichat could work if we can squeeze in an observer into the CB. The point is, if we are going to shoutcast these games LIVE we need to make sure of that none of the clans involved in the CB can listen in.
But I will gladly be a part of any group set down to look into this matter.
cheers
p.s. just PM me if you guys want to mind meld.

Brutha find me on GR and lets talk about it. As of now my whole views on it were going downhill but i feel that even tho i can do LIVE yet it would still be cool to shoutcast.....and then let people DL. Just need some webspace to throw DL's on...

And that is one of the two reasons this is doomed to fail. I don't want anyone taking any extra bandwidth up, and most people feel the same way.
The other reason being that spectators can't observer in Raven Shield under the BL settings, they'd only see a blank screen saying "no death camera's allowed". The reason for this being that we don't teams to be able to observer each other. The one way around this would be for the person to actually keep joining each team to be able to observe it. No thanks.
