I DL this app from the apple website, its called Speed Download 2, here's the link

I use iGetter to DL big files (eg. AA).. . You can pick up where you left, if you have to stop the DL.. . nice little app

yeah i have used speed download before..... its ok, my bandwith sucks though, but when i used it, it maxed the download, so i couldnt tell you how effective it is for people with higher bandwiths.
