Now that the season is over, I think it is about time we raise the discussion:

Should De_Dust be banned?

We all know all maps have glitches of various sorts, but Dust takes the prize! Zero T has taken a bunch of screenshots for the community to decide whether this map should be banned or not. (We would like to assure you that Zero T has never used any of these glitches in a CB or CQB).

*link coming soon. Ask me for pictures until we have them uploaded to our website*

Some of these glitches I have seen used!!! I didn't know about these glitches until today, but when I was shown, I immediately recognized some of them. We haven't even screenshoted ALL of the glitches on this map.

This map is ESPECIALLY unsuitable for cqb matches, as the pictures will show.
Ask me (ghraacri) on iChat (AIM) for pictures.

It should also be noted how hard it is to realise someone is using this. If an experienced player dies on dust, they generally know whether they are in a position to be killed or not, and so can decide to ask for a replay. HOWEVER, as replays are optional, many do not ask for them and thus anyone of these glitches could have been used in a cb. Now obviously as I pointed out, it will be recognised by long time players for what it is, but what about the newcomers?

They would not be able to distinguish between places they can or cannot be shot from initially and so might just accept it. This is very worrying.

Also, what if someone uses the glitch but doesnt kill people through it? A team using voice com. can have one person glitching whilst telling the other team members the enemys movements. In a team game the impact is neglagable except for being able to see extra details such as whether they carry sensors or nades, but on a CQB, this is a massive advantage with sensors being banned. How would you know if someone was glitching if they didnt shoot? you wouldn't. And most likely you wouldnt ask for the replay either.

IMHO, Dust should be banned completley, but if dust is not banned from team games, it should most definitly for CQB. That, or every replay for every match must be saved and watched to ensure it doesnt happen.

Yes, De Dust has glitches.  Just like every other map in Ghost Recon.  If you are going to ban De Dust, you might as well ban the whole damn game from the Battle League.  There are glitches as bad, or worse, than the ones on De Dust on several other maps.....most notably on Small River, Day Castle, Red Square, and any map with inclines and craters.

No need to ban this map.

Not that I, as a banned player, really has a say in it anyway.

Ghost: these glitches allow you to see through the walls to cover the entire map. You can also shoot throught the walls (both bullets and nades) but cannot be hit by them (depending on the glitch). Dust is the worst put together GhR map I have seen yet. You can glitch in more than 4 different places, all giving you a significant advantage, all hard or impossible to see the person doing so.

I agree that De Dust should be allowed as well.  as ghostsniper so well put, there are small glitches on all maps, but would love to see the SS's you have taken of the map.  Granted the map is very small and I am not alover of small maps, but dedust can only really be played on certain styles of gameplay, and as far as I have sen it seems to be ok with me that it be allowed for WZ or LMS.  Anyway, would love to see screenshots anyway.

When it comes down to a certain yes or no, I say keep the map. Most of the remaining GhR community doesn't care about glitching anymore and stuff, and even those that are still around in the GhR DBL know that cheating will be punished to the maximum extent.
