Personally all 3 sucks anyway.  But if I had to pick, I would say GM, mainly b/c I have driven GM cars and experienced far less problems than with Ford or Chrylser.

Incase you don't know FORD stands for: Found On Road Dead and Fix Or Repair Daily enough said.

Chrysler is just plain cheap body and engines (some cars), most especially the Jeeps (cherokee), omg they really stink.

Ummmm, actually, FORD stands for FIRST ON RACE DAY.

Maybe when it comes to performance cars like Saleen stangs, etc but when it comes to everyday lemons like the Escort or the Explorer....save your $$$

Dude, Ford has not made an Escort for consumer use since 1998 (they made them exclusively for rental car companies and fleets until 2002 when they were completely discontinued.....and the ZX2 ran through the 2003 Model Year before being discontinued).  And as for the Explorer, once Ford redesigned it in 2002 it is one of the best SUVs on the road....no problems at all......and also pretty quick with either the 4.0L SOHC V-6 or the 4.6L SOHC V-8 (they all come with a new 5-speed automatic transmission that is just awesome).  And if you want bang for the buck, try out the Ford SVT Focus....comes with a 6-Speed Manual Transmission and will blow the doors off most anything in its price range.  And you don't have to buy a Saleen to get fast cars from Ford......Ford's own SVT division makes a high performance Focus (the SVT Focus), F-150 (the Lightning), and Mustang (the Cobra).  On top of that, the new Ford GT SuperCar is gonna be in production this year and will be a match for any Ferrari out there.

I really like the opinions of the great unwashed, they always give me a warm, happy feeling.

Like those that say American cars != quality.  Blow me.  Read some JD Powers reports sometimes, please.  Jaguar quality was shit right before Ford picked them up, now they get top honors year after year.  I don't think I've had a Ford in for a repair that was under 6 years old, other than getting new brakes.  I've also driven many Fords past 150,000 miles.  If that's not quality, I don't know what is.

Oh, and Tasty, how you can not associate Diamler-Chrysler and gas comsumption is beyond me.  Did you overlook their SUV's because they suck so much?  Because those HEMI's don't sip the gas you know.  Not to mention that my wife's Ford SUV gets ~30MPG (how many others can say that?).

I realize that yes, I am biased, but it also is disturbing that you guys have opinions that have been outdated long before you were old enough to get behind the wheel.  Every auto maker has somethings they do right, and others that they don't, but to call American cars shit when you haven't even driven them is just ignorant (and that's being nice about it).

Go out and educate yourselves before you form dumbass opinions.  Please.

Some of you obviously can't comprehend the topic title. "Which of the "Big Three" Makes the Best Autos?" Not which care company is the best. He said out of the Big 3 which is best. Geez, <slaps everyone>

<stomps off>

And we all know Ford is the best of the 3.

Oh yea there's a page 2. Well on this sub-topic, I agree with bucc that Ford turned around the jag. But it also saved the Volvo from certian death. Ford has the quality that people want, I supose you could call most Fords bang for buck....Their sub divisions are wisely chosen and are quality:

-Jagaur: some of those are just so damn sexy
-Lincoln: :-x
-mercury: sure why not
-mazda- zoom zoom?
-volvo- that new S60R is fast (family got one)
-landrover- hey i hate boxes on wheels but some people dig that  Huh

All the chyrsler brands seem very overdone, design wise. And for the record i hate Dodge....Dodge....RAM....<throws up>.

The only thing GM can brag about are the hummers. But now they even fucked up those.

I don't know much about cars, but I voted for Ford.

But another brand I really like is Maserati.

I would love to have a Spyder GT.

Having driven a 1994 Nissan Sentra for the past year and so months until it kindly spun into a tree at 60, I'd say my opnion is a little biased, but here it goes. As far which of the Big Three, makes the best cars, I'd say Chrysler makes the best cars. Ford the best bang for the buck sports cars and trucks (gotta love the SVT Lightning). Yet, When you start comparing the japaneese manufactures to the "Big Three" the Big three start to come up short. Honda, Toyota, Nissan and Mazda all build really decent cars and the quality for the price is usually what makes them sell over the shit the Big Three pump out. The only car I would ever drive from Frod would be something tuned by SVT or maybe if I could get my hands on an Escort Cosworth... Don't get me wrong I love Mustangs as much as the next guy but, something about the light weight of the 4 banger sports cars that the Japanees manufactuers are putting out appeals to me. Muscle fans can say "no replacement for displacement" all they want and import lovers will counter with "technology" again and again, but if you think about the big displacement Japanesse cars that came out someone them are a force to be reckoned with. Anyone whos ever seen a video of the Walser Supra blowing off a Honda 900RR knows what I'm talking about. I've seen video of 94 Sentra SE-R blowing off a new 03 Mustang SVT Cobra. I attend street races frequently in Atlanta to get video and take pictures and by buddies are muscle car guys (69 Camaro RS Z/28 with a 383 High Compression Stroker motor & a 94 Mustang STV Cobra with a 5.0 motor swap) and I hear more shit talk than a lot of you can imagine, but it really all boils down to preferece get what you like. Lots of people laughed at my Sentra when I had it (it had 1 seat and the interior was stripped) but we used to wait for people in Civic Si's to drive by on the street and we'd take turns racing the Civics. My mom drives a Maxima and wants an FX45, My dad wanted a Harley but rode a Kawasaki Z1000, I used to drive a Sentra and hopefully I'll be replacing the old Sentra with a Sentra SE-R Spec V. Back to the point.. People like different shit and what you drive is usally based on your personal preferece, as far as I'm concerned the Big Three when they really focus on something it comes out great. Look at the new Ford GT, it out runs the Ferrari 360 Stradsdale and the Porche GT3 in a straight line and on a race course costing I think a lot less than the Ferrari and just a tad more than the Porche. Car and Driver said the only thing they can really compare the $111,000  Ford GT to, is the $400,000 Saleen S7 and the $660,000 Ferrari Enzo. When the Big Three actually try to make a good car, they do. When they just try to make a profit, they make shit.
