Where is the knowledge we lost with information?

« on: December 07, 2003, 07:42:20 pm »

I'm asking for an iPod for Christmas, the cheapest one 10 GB for 299. I have two nice Bose speakers that I just got and I was wondering if there was anyway I would be able to hook those speakers up to my iPod. The speakers hook up like regular speakers with those skinny wires. Can this be done or do I need an accessory?

you could,
however i doubt the ipod could power two larger speakers.
especially when speakers range from 40-200watts, and your ipod would have a hell of a time powering anything more than a set of headphones.

Well I know there is an adapter to let it play in your car so I thought there could be a way to do this. Thanks anyway.

Car adapters are possible because your car's head unit (AKA your "stereo") contains an amp. The iPod itself is not powerful enough to drive large speakers, but the head unit is.

There is actually a nifty little power adapter that gives your ipod some juice so you can power bigger speakers. Just a week or two ago i bought the 40GB ipod (oh what a beautiful beast it is) and its currently 84% full Cheesy
Can't remember where i say about the power adapter.. i'll see if i can go dig the link out for you

Yea Haz, mb you should pass on the iPod and just upgrade the your current Mac as best you can.  Get the iPod next year, or just find yourself a "sugar-mommy"....I know, its a dirty job, but someone has to do it!
