Ever wondered just how crappy GhR is? And AA also? Here's a way to find out!
1. Note the number of frames per second you get while playing AA and Ghost Recon for 10 minutes as a range between two numbers. (i.e. I get 15-35 frames for GhR depending upon the map) If you do not know how to get your frames per second, the
http://mp.macclans.com website has instructions for showing the framerate in both games.
2. Every time you see something that wouldn't happen in real life... for instance, a character warps, a dead body hangs out over an edge but doesn't fall, or a gun sticking through a wall
3. Now, get the True Combat mod (plays a lot like AA crossed with CounterStrike) for Quake 3 and test the same things:
http://www.planetquake.com/q3t/Q3TC/index.html (note that quake 3 is obviously required)
4. Compare. Honestly, this mod was made by guys during their free time. It plays better and has more realism than Ghost Recon and America's Army combined, and yet gets 3 times the framerate with no bugs. Bow to the quake engine and know that it is the best around (for sooo many reasons). I elaborate more here:
http://filebox.vt.edu/users/msuter/public/tedious.html Why can't anyone code their game engine as well as quake 3? Wish I knew.
Yes, that is a website of just me venting about things. More content when I have the time, for now its just a homemade editorial column on the world around me. Link will be included wherever I can put it.
