How long does it take you to boot GhR when you are hosting off of gameranger?

I have noticed that different hosts take different amounts of time to load, some pretty quick, some pretty slow.

Why do some load faster than others?

Processor or RAM issue?  Host or client?

Are there any tips to make it load faster?  (insteads of staring at the GHOST RECON logo)

Ideas, suggestions?

Thanks

Put those mods that you arent using in another folder somewhere else, and then when you want to use them drag them to you mods folder. Takes much longer when it has to load all the mods even though your not even using them.  Smiley

Other than that...just try to keep your comp fast, de-fragging, or was it fragging your HD, dont fill the HD to the brim.

Ohyea, and having a no-cd image makes the whole process faster in the terms of getting the cd, inserting it and waiting for it to load. you can get it at www.core-clan.com  Wink

some great tips.....

I actually just made another folder for all the mods not in use.  I'll see if that speeds it up at all.  I have the no cd ting.  gottta love that.  I have half my harddrive available/empty.

One thing i dont have is a defragger. But i didnt think that was necasary for os x.  I thought it degragged on startup.  I could be wrong.

Thankyou for your advice.  much appreciated.

more tips appreciated

It doesn't defrag on startup, but I think it does do a diagnostic test on the startup disk when it boots up.

After BootX kicks in the startup it runs a POST Check (i.e. not a ture diagnostic)

Thanks for the tips.....

They weren't entirely "for me".

i was hoping others would read this and learn something as well, because i have noticed sometimes, in gameranger, when the host starts a game another window pops up with a timeline thing, waiting for the host to load.

anyway.....

Much appreciated!

its easier to keep a seperate partition (15-20gigs or so) for just games, it makes the process of defragging the disk much easier, and no reboots are required.
I've thought about getting a 15,000rpm serial ata drive for my computer, but i don't think i'll need more hd space for a year or so.
