Coco, if it wasn't for your help I would not have gone half as far as I have. Truly. Thank you.

Once I built the Uni PSDs it became a simple matter to make a camo overlay. The hard part for me now is putting the camo on a chr in-game.
I have been taking advantage of that site! I want to work up some Rhodesian patterns soon. I actually have been thinking of at least re-coloring the webbing and vests, because with some patterns black or OD would be a better fit ie the Indonesian charater. For me the big obstacle is evening out the camo colors while not losing the detail of the pouches, ie seems, buttons, etc since I'm no artist and wouldn't have a prayer of recreating 'em Smiley I'm starting to experiment with texturing, so I might try overlaying and building my own pouches when I get the time.
I'm glad you like 'em and thank you again for the help you've given me.

Hey no prob man, I think the work is great. That first desert tiger pattern is the one I use for paintball!
You may not think you are an artist, but it isn't easy to cut and erase your textures to conform to the vest, pouches, etc, not everybody can do it. As for the pouches, try using a texture like one of the Georgian rebels with the green tactical chest rig, and greyscale the texture. Then cut the pouches off and lay them on top of , say, the ones on one of the US textures, covering the camo ones. Just match the dimensions using free transform. When you're done, you'll have a vest texture similar to the grey textures you use for your uniform overlays. Now you can overlay camo on top of the vests also, it's the same process.

Good luck and have fun! Makes me want to do a tutorial for the DTD pro mod School! Grin

Thanks Coco.
Actually what I did was cut off the vests from the Infantry, and then grayscaled 'em.
Once I had 'em grayscaled, I used clone stamp to even out the camo pattern and give a uniform surface.
Its time consuming, but it seemed to work well.
Then I make a new layer and do an overlay fill, of about 60-80% opacity. This allows me to have a good dark color. Then I creat a new layer, and overlay the original full camo vest. I then erase the new layer, just keeping the details I want that were grayscaled. So the radio, buttons etc. all come out. Look at the pouch on the Demo guy.
It really worked well when I did Lindy Cohen's tactical vest. I'll try posting one of those later tonight.

Well while I wait for Deleyt to review the new skins, here's a revision for gen Monty's tigerstripe mod. He wanted the infantry to be like the other Ghosts. I think I'll save the other skin for a specialist or two  Grin

@ Supasniper, they're over a meg compressed each. If your email can take it, PM with it and I'll send 'em to ya.

Here are the sniper models. Snowfella was kind enough to build 'em for me.

DESERT TIGERS is DONE!

It replaces all the desert siege operatives with new camo patterns.
Including a new model by SNowfella and some surprise camos!
Let's just say the surprise is based on Lindy's Night Camo a much improved night camo.

Its about 5.5mb zipped. Can anyone help me find hosting for it
EDIT
While I'm waiting for F@planet to host it, I can email it to thems that want and don't mind a 4.8-5.5mb dl Ace or Zip.

Thinking of a new project, is it possible to have two types of standard snipers showing up on the same list?
I'd like to have a ghilie suit option and a boonie hat option on the same list.

Imagine if I had 3DSM  Grin.  Actually lets not. I love my wife.

I'm glad you're enjoying them. I'm really POed that Monty can't get 'em. I don't understand what the problem is. Well hopefully Fileplanet will post it soon.
What did you think of the specialists?

This is one of the snags I ran into while developing NED. You can have as many types of models as you want to in the roster, but here's the limitations:

Anything named with the default names (ie: ica_us_demolitions.chr, etc) will automatically switch from desert to jungle to standard depending on the map. If you change the chr model name, that model will show up, but it will show up for all 3 map types. You have to go into the roster and manually edit the actor files to show the other character. If you change 50% of the roster to the non-default model, you'll have roughly a 50/50 chance of getting a mix of both in the roster in-game, but you could easily get 2 of one type also. It doesn't help that there's only 2 shown for snipers.

That's about it. I did this quite a lot with NED, but the non-default charcters I used are usually wearing something neutral, like black, green, etc, instead of a camo pattern. Just my way of doing it Wink

Ok, so even if I change 50% of the ATR files for my sniper example, GR still has a random factor built in that might produce 2 of the same type. Arggh. That sounds like work. This is something I'll have to ponder. I hope they change this for GR2, if it ever comes.
