Same model different skin. This is the "Lebanon" pattern camo.
I wish there were more beret wearing charaters besides this guy, and the un peacekeeper. I made a cool Green Beenie out of this model and Wildcats Tiger pattern. Kinda looked like Magnum PI in tigerstripe.

Thanks Raven!
In my quest for more beret wearing models, I have finally discovered the cuban enemy chrs.
Now since the beret texture is part of the attachment texture, do I have to recreate the entire attachment texture, or can I just make a texture of the beret and edit the qob to point to that?

Edit
Well it looks like I have to edit the attachement texture.

Now that I've had some free time
Here's a pattern based on Chinese Marine Camo

What do you think

Here's an experiment. I came across this pattern, don't know from where, and though it might be cool for low light missions

I'd appreciate heavy criticism on this pattern.

I love the pattern, whisper made one similiar about 6 months ago, kinda had a blue tint to it. I dont know if I like the green camo on the vest, or is it just the pouches? Mayve desert would look better, dont know? The uni is sweet bud, as all are.

Isn't it the night desert pattern? At any rate I think it looks cool.

And if you wanted more boonie models to skin ask BajaBravo to use some of his.

Thanks
Well the vest and pouches are woodland camo. The pattern is more gray than anything. Should I try Olive-drab or black pouches or leave it?

The blue tinted grid pattern is Coco's from IDF the advisor chr's - started there then decided to make my own

it is actually supposed to be the US Night Desert Pattern http://pvtpyle.com/North%20American/US%20Night%20Desert.jpg - reference pic

My results - I did this for Cobra6, a tad messy but you get the idea - using the base of the OEM DS rifleman and some packs from Coco's advisor. Doesn't fit real well but whatever. Wink

What Hi-jack? Thanks
Actually I found my sample for the night pattern on a page advertising a CD full of royalty free camo samples. Of course did I bookmark the page, NOOOO.
It was more gray than green, hence how it looks. I remeber Coco had a pic of a specialist with that type of camo and a boonie hat. I'm debating whether I should darken the whole pattern.

Here's a pattern I just finished that's based on an Idonesian spot pattern its also similar to one listed as a chinese border guard.

Here's the guy I did a ways back who kinda looks like Magnum in tigerstripe

If you run across that CD link again pass it along, I would love to get my hands on that.

These guys are based on an Indonesian camo pattern, probably for urban use. I don't think it'd be practical anywhere else. Let loose the critiques!

That certainly is an interesting pattern.

And do you use Mike Scchell's wrinkles.psd when making your skins ogre?

Like Robin Williams said "When you go into the jungle you should CLASH!"  Grin

I started with the PSDs that Mike Schell and Ruin put up in their tutorial. But then I followed Wildcats model, and put them all into a PSD. Then I realized that I'd have to do that for Russian Unis too, so I built a PSD for that. I had to find, grayscale and import details like pockets, etc.

Russian

US

Then I make a new layer and try the camo pattern I want on top.

Nice work. I can see you've been taking advantage of the Trident site! Tons of euro camo's in there, as well as the chinese and middle eastern ones. You've got the basics down nicely Ogre.
The variation in chr models showns your into experimenting. Once you are comfortable making your own camo's, search around on the web for tactical vests and gear, and try to replace the standard GR textures with your own, using them as a template. For example, if you wanted to replace the pouches on a particular vest, make your new ones the same dimensions as the originals, fine tune them by making the new ones semi-transparent to get the perfect fit, then make them opaqe again. This assures they properly fit the contours of the model.

Once you get proficient at this, you'll really unlock a whole new area of skinning, making character skins that people can't easily identify as the original model. The work looks great, you pick up quite fast!
