     If it only affects weapons, character files, and mission scripts, it won't do shit to stop people who are fog-hacking, will it? A client can't cheat by changing the weapons anyway, so I don't see what the point is, other than to maybe keep the servers honest regarding some of the more obvious cheats.

     Brain and I are testing the anti-cheat mod. It stops a) actor hacking, so that the server cannot make one team better than the others, b) gun hacking, so that the server cannot enhance or degrade weapons, c) kit hacking, so that the server cannot modify kits (even though that's a stupid way to cheat because it's so obvious), d) mission and game mode hacking, even though I can't see those being useful cheats, and e) save file hacking (which possibilities I don't even understand).

     The anti-cheat mod primarily prevents server-side cheats, which are generally not much of a concern. Anyone who knows where I could get my hands on other hacks, such as wireframe hacks, fog hacks, etc., or who knows how I can enable them, I would like to hear from you. The "anti-cheat" mod as it exists does not stop the full-screen night vision cheat, so I have no confidence that it will stop any of the other truly effective cheats. I need those cheats to see if it is possible to make the mod work against them.

     Brain and I have upgraded the anti-cheat mod so that it actually stops the FSNV cheat. Once I get more cheats to experiment with, I will add protection from as many of them as I can.

     ::nod:: Game-mode hacks could work, but I don't understand why it bothers preventing mission cheats. Are cheaters in co-op that much of a problem?

it would stop cheating well from the server perspective (but you can just mod the mod on the server to your liking if you wanted to get around it).

if i get some time this weekend i'll see how well it works, and how flawed it is.

Evill mentioned that he is very close to finishing the plugin (not including any of the shit from the mod)...
infact his words were, "i can release it right now, but it doesn't force fullscreen yet"
and its not much work to force fullscreen...

Guys guys calm down and don't be so euphorical! Flies is happy like a 5yearold child at his birthday.

MORPH isn't anything new: I already spoke with the creators back in the days when it was released in April and he confirmed me that first: it doesn't prevent any wallhack, fog, nv cheats and of course you still can hack the morph files...

MORPH is nothing else than a mod and doesn't solve our issues! It's more like a placebo, because the server only compares filenames but doesn't upload his files to your Mac.

May I have to say it again: the anti cheat mod can be hacked the same way and doesn't prevent anything in the long run. Also I dislike the name: Anti-cheatmod - that assures you can play cheatfree which is plain wrong.

Btw when are you doing your bike tour through europe? Or did you cancel that? Never got reply from you.

     I don't know why the mod's creators didn't include protection against wallhacks and etc. It's not as though it's a difficult thing to do.

     A properly-constructed anti-cheat mod will be able to prevent most client-side cheats. As for server-side cheats, well, you'd best play on a server you trust, hadn't you?

I'm not in a clan yet but since I've been playing this game since its been released for the mac under various pseudonyms and cheating pisses me off, so I downloaded it (tx to Flies for his link). The problem is that previous to this, me and VooDoo were on Flies server looking on the web like mad to find the mod and finally got out cause we couldn't find it. People seem to be offended by it, just like if I would tell them they cheat...

I've only discovered the existence of these boards yesterday and it gives a lot more sense to the clan trip, might be tempted...

to my knowlege, we havent submitted the anti FSNV mod yet
as soon as i can get it to someone with a better connection, we will start distributing it (probably off the mp site)

The biggest problem with making a mod that prevents things like wire frame and aimbots is that 10 minutes after the mod is out, the aimbots have been updated to work around it.

This is why PunkBuster and a few other server side anti-cheats have been established.  PunkBuster checks both clients and servers, and is updated to find the latest cheats (checks the files, checksum, even looks for .dll's or other executables that point to cheating).  Even these aren't perfect.  You can see PunkBuster on the Mac with SOF2 and RTCW (and soon on Americas Army).

     I'm still waiting to receive info on cheats from people. PM it to me as a guest user with a fake name. It's not like I give a damn. But without some cheats being put in my posesssion, I can't do anything to make this so-called anti-cheat mod actually useful. I'd be happy to do this for the community, but it doesn't seem as though anybody cares.

I'm beginning to think that this mod is almost completely useless...

on the PC side of things there are programs that assist in cheating... so the directory the program would look for would be Ghost Recon Data/Mods/MP1 and origmis to mod weapons, unis, ect...
so in theory the average notalent noob with a hack program would fall victim to this because whatever program they happen to have will deal with those two directories, and not the M O R P F mod folder...
So if the morpf mod forces one to use the mod's kits rather than the defaults which are easy targets. But yes, it wouldn't take very long to get those changes to work with morpf or the kits and unis of any other mod for that matter. (it is posible to move hacked files from a pc install to a mac install of ghr)

The Anti-Cheat plugin evill is planning on releasing (and soon), will be more secure than anything this mod can hope to be. If jesus christ knew assembler maybe he could break it, but aside from that its wishful thinking because there are very few people with a motive, who could do such a thing. If you've modified a designated file (the important ones are checked for) and every single bit isn't accounted for your ass isn't getting into a game, and there will be a punishment system in the future.
You could IP join to cheat, but gameranger blocks this, unless you know the server password.

Now for a bit of a rant...
I'm a pretty good ghost recon player and i've hardly ever suspected many people of cheating, but i've been accused of cheating quite a bit. I think much of this hype is a result of people not facing the truth that maybe other people are better than they are. When any player lights me up in a game i don't immediately assume they are cheating, i think of how to approach beating them, and even if they were cheating, your chances of winning are better if your thinking, rather than being pissed off and angry. This isn't to say that I'm not scared of cheating, because i've seen some crazy glitches, and people shoot targets through walls... For the time being make sure to ban these types of people from your games, or tell the host what you saw.
