U.S. Special Forces Snipers (Heavy images)

I just spotted these high-resolution pictures on the internet concerning U.S. Special Forces snipers testing sound suppressors for their vast arsenal of long-range rifle. Moreover, these pictures are from the 2002 International Sniper Competition. I thought that it might interest someone on this forum.

The Outdoor Life Network actually had a one hour show on featuring that very competition the other night. It was quite informative. IIRC the winners were from an infantry division based in Alaska, in last was a British team who was forced to use an unfamiliar ammo due to customs restrictions. The two Brits had 30 years in between them and are instructors at the Royal Marine sniper school in the U.K.
Hopefully it'll be on again soon. I wanna tape it. Great pics though too.

Yup, was really cool. Like I said I felt bad for the Brits, they just couldn't catch a break.
They didn't show a lot of the weapons in those pics either.

Ok, looked like a sr25, I didnt pay that much attention though. I liked the night shoot the best. I dont think I would want to go up against any of them, hehe.

Actually, a suppressed .223 round is still loud : After a prolonged exposition, the tympans could get damaged. Moreover, a suppressed .50 equals the sound of a .308 round, which is pretty loud.

does the ammo make that much of a difference to put a team in last? and why wasnt their ammo allowed to be used; just because its foreign or because it's too strong or something?

Ammo makes all the difference. And if you train on one specific load, ie x amount of grains of powder, bullet weight, etc and are forced to use a different one then you're basically screwed. And the guys they were competing against had no such problems in that area so it's easy to understand their poor performance.
And the reason they couldn't use it, from what I understood from the show, was that it couldn't be brought into the country. I'm at a loss as to why though.
