How does it feel to be DONKEY PUNCHED?

« on: July 04, 2003, 12:05:07 am »

i just bought a logitech mx500 optical mouse for my ghr in the hope that i would be able to use the scroll wheel for zooming w/ weapons. well just like my old mouse, a microsoft intelli optical mouse. the wheel doesnt work. i can set it up that if i press down on the wheel i can zoom back and forth w/ a click. but no scroll zoom. i disable driver program of mouse, cause aspyr say that could be a problem, but still no scroll zoom. they dont have answers for me. anyone have answers for me?

i am in os 9.2.1, 466mghz, 384 ram, rage 128 video card for your info.

great percise mouse though, way better than microshit.

You know i called Aspyr and complained of the same problem with the mouse 5 months ago and they were shitty to me Wiley to be precise. But my prob was the mouse was causing the game to freeze, however i am in OS X, for me i uninstalled the logitech mouseware, that piece of software was the real problem.
So my suggestion would be to uninstall the mouse ware, if you got it, make sure in GHR you set the key prefrences the way you want and see if that works. if not i would try reinstalling GHR

Meatwagon...update your OS to 9.2.2 1st and see if that helps. And it probably will. www.versiontracker.com - search "apple OS"

p.s. - If that doesnt help, I know there wont be a problem if u update to OSX

im using os x.2 and the usb overdrive control panel meight be diferent.....

and i have to say, that i had no problems with the wheel at any time.....
it worked from the beginning

i thought this "extension" could help u maybe, coz it helped me, to use all my mouse buttons, instead of only 2!

i have 3 rows in my panel
1st shows the active, or created settings
2nd schows me if overdrive is enabled or not and the buttons that are supoorted
3rd shows me extra options for every button

the wheels (Wheel Up & Wheel Down in the middle column) are set to Accelerate Up and to Accelerate Down
i have another option, where i can chose as which button the wheel should act
i selected Mittle Button

i hope i was able to help u a bit Smiley

Well, one thing that Aspyr mentioned about not having the scroll functions for the mouse in 9.2 were the simple fact that the input spocket was interfearing with the operation of the mouse and that if you disabled that the scroll would work.  Shit, it worked for me when I was still using OS9 to play Ghost recon cause I had a Logitech with the same problem.  Other then that Aspyr has been completely useless when it comes to any type of help =(

I have tried quite a wide selection of keyboards and mice from, Microsoft, Logitech, Kensington......... I had some problems and did some calling. Logitech finally informed me that many of the drivers for these various devices will not work together. For instance if you have Microsofts mouse driver installed and then install the Logitech one you can expect trouble due to software conflicts. The last time I checked Logitechs driver is a combo Mouse & keyboard driver & does not like to have other drivers installed. I returned my Logitech Mouse and put my Logitech Keyboard on my sons PC. The software with the Logitech pointing devices just does not have the features I was looking for. I finally shelled out the $ for a Kensington Expert Mouse (the PC version & Mac version are about the same according to Kensington). Kensington has a brand new Optical Trackball and other pointing devices out now that are pretty slick and you just can't beat their software IMHO.

One other thing you may find helpful. Nostromo (by Belkin) came out with a driver that works under OSX. You can now have an off hand keypad with scrool wheel, thumb directional pad and a bunch of keys, all programable by application. I have had not conflicts between the Nostromo driver and other pointer, keyboard drivers. The Nostromo software installs as a regular application.

Good luck and good pointing!
