Ok one quick question.

Can a clan at the beginning of a clan battle ask to have all the replays of the upcoming game or do they have to ask for them after every game?

I would like to know because it is easy for the host to forget even just one replay and I feel its better if the none hosting clan was to ask after each game so the host dosn't forget.

That's up to your agreement - by default you have to ask for a replay if you think something was fishy and since you can't know if something was fishy before you played the game I would say you should ask after each game for the replay but all in all there isn't a rule about it.

Bye,

Yeah, I am not sure that replays shoudl be given out unless there is some type of concern of cheating in some way during the game.  By asking for the replays on every one, this allows the other clans to evaluate the game by watching the other clan play and gain strategy to counter their moves, which if it was a real life scenario, it wouldnt happen.  I can understand that they would want the replay if they thought someone was cheating, but asking fo them all, well we know what the other team would want that for.  Hmmm.

It is only fair to give out the replays if you have them. The host clan already has the option of saving replays and then reviewing the visitor's clans tactics. It is only fair that the visitor clan is given the replays when asking. I think there should be a rule where it is necessary to give out the replays if the visitor clan asks. Otherwise the host clan recieves knowledge that the visitor does not.

The point I was trying to make was that if a clan asks for all the replays before the cb and not after every game. It is easy for the host to forget and then the other Clan could get a forfit for just one missing replay.

Thats why i am really wondering if its ok.

I think you should just make it a rule to always record replays, and as a reminder make the host set the after action timer to 1-2 mins to give him and others a chance to remind the host to save the replay.  But if it is made a rule to always save replays, it should sink in and not be so much of a problem anymore.  And btw, for sure i think the visitor clan should have the right to ask and get all replays that were not on his or his clans host.  Why should only one side get to go over tactics, its not only to view the other clans, but to also go over your oun moves...note what when wrong and try and fix things.  GIVE UP THE REPLAYS SAB! =P

Problem with that Dr No is that would stop all play from dedicated servers, since you can't record the replay from a dedicated server.  And there have been a few clans out there that took advantage of our offer and CB'd each other on our servers, just because it solved lag problems and allowed for big ass CB's.

Also, I'm not a fan of clan having that kind of replay on each other, the game films as it were.

Dedicated servers wouldn't be a problem. If both clans agree to it, then it is pretty much ok.

I agree bucc, and i don't want to kill dedicated servers.  I just think some of these clans out there should not have such a problem with giving out replays, and if you ever think someone is cheating a replay will show you better then a screen shot by far.

Dedicated servers are a great thing for Clan battles and it would be a great great shame to loose them. I don't see how you can't still save replays on dedicated - as long as the person who is serving stays around to save the games... Working on writing a simple apple script that will move the saved game file when it is created to a different folder - so it isn't replaced by the next one.. thus keeping all saved games automatically

They can be named different things, so there's no need for the script to move them.

As for asking the person running the server to take screen shots, that isn't very practical.  People in the MP clan have set up our dedicated servers for other clans CB's, and if they had stayed connected via ARD, they would lag the game to no end.  They have done it when Ace and I haven't been around to save the replays on our respective servers.

Also, think how easy it would be for me to miss saving one in a 2 - 4 hour CB.  I'm going to sit there and watch for a screen to pop up (you don't get to observe the game, so you just see the results screen at the end).  Hell, I may have to change the baby's diaper and miss it.  I don't know about you, but when I offer up my server, I'm not offering up 2-4 hours of my time to sit there and do nothing.  If there is a way to script it, save them automatically, or have the players do so, I'd be all for it.  But I don't think having the Dedicated Server's owner sit and wait around is a viable solution.

If you agree to a dedicated server, you shouldn't expect to get a replay of the match. Knowing that, I know dedicated servers are sometimes the best way. They are great for reducing lag and sometimes the only way to play those big cbs.

But if the server's owner doesn't, how else could you get the replays?  nobody in the game can do it.

i think could work...
We could simply figure out what data is sent out from the dedicated server that signals the games end (easy), monitor the port for the data(medium), then find a way to script the saving of the game once the data is sent(hard)...

A similar system could work for saving your stats and giving averages which ace and i have thought of  programing, so maybe there would be more of a reason to figure this out than just for saving replays of dedicated servers. Also a script to post who is playing, what they  are playing, and how they are doing on a webserver could be worked out.

So whoever hosts should have an unfair advantage by having all the replays and the guset none?

Ah STuRM, re-read this if you would.  We are talking about how you neither team would get them off a dedicated host, because they wouldn't be taken.  The point was how playing on a neutral host it's hard to get replays, because someone would have to set there and take them for you.  Etc.

As for my opinions about replays being cheap, there's a whole thread on that.
