Is it just me or does the RS ladder suddenly suck?

Now the clans with a 3-0 record are in the number 4 spot. What the fuck is this, get cracking guys. Remember, RS will only die if you fucking lazy bums let it die. All we can hope for is that once GhR loses it's glitz and glam RS may have a little bit of a resurrection. Throw up your ideas on how to do this guys

We need more little clan whores to break away from mi and shit like that and start a bunch of RS clans like the good ole days.

Just compare the number of clans in the RS ladder to the GhR ladder.

Actually, I agree with you, Serp. The problem isn't a lack of RS players. Last season was one of the most active seasons, almost all those players still play Rogue Spear. I think that the reasons the ladder is inactive are:


1.) Really shitty point system, that doesn't fit the ladder at all. I was very disapointed that Mauti isn't willing to take suggestions, nor accept the fact that it doesn't work right for the RS ladder.

2.) This "RS is dead" attitude. I've heard from so many people "I love Rogue Spear, but it's dead", or "I'd love to CB and play more, but RS is kinda dead". Hello people! It's 'dead' because of your attitudes!

   lol jk guys.  I think your right, people will get over ghr at some point, but why don't you guys try ghr untill that point comes.  It's funny, i talk to old RS friends all the time, and all of them say "I HATE GHR, ALL THE CAMPING".  Well yes, it is not as fast as RS but it can be.  Try this...join a game with alot of people, and get them to play Emb.  I hate how you old schoolers will not even give ghr a try, so stuck in the-run outside-shoot-die-wait-lil chat-run outside-shoot- - - - - -

I'll say this, NO: I've given GHR a try. I can hold my own at it. My average game with 14 people ( 7v7 ) with 3 respawns is probably about 10 kills, 3 deaths, so I am a capible player.

The fact is, Ghost Recon just isn't fun for me. It's not so much the camping, yes, in GHR, a camper will always have an advantage, however, unless someone camped in a CB, it's not really a big deal.

GHR was more fun before players got good. I really don't know any other way to word that. Now, when I play GHR, I often get shot by someone sidestepping 200 yards away, also, people can crouch down and get their shots off so fast, that it's simply not realistic.

Buccaneer once mentioned to me that he was supprised that I hated Embassy so much, commenting that most RS players like it. I told him this: "If I want the Urban Combat, I'll restart to OS9 and play Rogue Spear. If I compare that aspect of GHR to that of RS, I'd hate GHR even more than I already do." I don't want GHR to be like Rogue Spear. When I want Rogue Spear's fun style of play, I'll play Rogue Spear. When I want GHR's err, gay style of play, I'll play GHR.

Some of my biggest problems with Ghost Recon, excluding gameplay are:

1.) While it's graphics aren't very good ( in comparison with RTCW, MOH, or other great games ), it's framerates suck. I have a 1GHZ powerbook G4, 1Gig RAM, 64MB ATI Radeon 9000 Pro, and I am getting less than 45FPS, where as on MOH or RTCW, which have far better graphics, I am getting 75-90FPS.

2.) Ghost Recon sets itself up for long games, however, it doesn't have an option to join part way through a game. I really don't enjoy waiting for 5-10 minutes simply to play a round.

3.) The assholes who play GHR. There are some total assholes who play Rogue Spear; guys like iGnome and Dark Man X, however, it's quite easy to block these people ( since there are only 3-4 of them ). I even take it a step beyond that; beacuse I am friends with almost all the current Rogue Spear players, when an asshole like that joins a game, I say to the host: "You've got two options, boot him, or boot me. Not booting him is the same as booting me, because I will leave." Bye bye, asshole.

Admittably, one reason that I am able to do this, and the reason that there are only 3-4 of these people is because there are so few Rogue Spear players in comparison with GHR players. However, the "asshole percent" in GHR is far higher than Rogue Spear.

When I look at my block list, I have 7 guys who tried to impersonate me ( fucking assholes ), one newbie who I just got tired of ( he was spamming "TYPHY AIMBOTS! NO ONE CAN AIM AS WELL AS HE DOES!!!" in games, it just got annoying after a while ), 3 Rogue Spear players ( mi one, iGnome, and Dark Man X ), and 12 GHR players.

12! I have 12 players blocked for a game that I play for probably an hour each month, in comparison with only 3 from the game that I've played for over 2 years. Why is this? Yes, it's this simple: Tons and tons of assholes play Ghost Recon.

Why would I play Ghost Recon? The gameplay is the worst of any game ever made ( in my opinion, and I don't want an argument over gameplay, that's all a matter of opinion ), the graphics suck, the framerates suck, especially considering the graphics. It often takes 5-10 minutes to get into a game, and on top of all that, it lacks a community structure and is an asshole magnet. Why should I play this game?

My message to all your RS players out there: GHR sucks, stick with the best.

I just want to comment on this:

First mostly it weren't suggestions, most guys made only complains or complete different systems that would have tons of other flaws.

Second it is really fun that no matter what you are doing it is wrong and shitty and blah blah blah. Over 2 seasons there is the complain that you can climb up the ladder very easily by beating lower ranked/noob clans. Now I finally found a way that prevents that very well and only gives you many points if you beat higher ranked clans. A side effect is that sometimes the cb records look different from the sum of the skillpoints but you all forget that you have to THINK DIFFERENT - the skillpoints don't reflect the cb records it reflects how well you have done against higher ranked clans -> your skills against higher ranked clans and it is not a 1:1 rip off the cb wins and win percentage.

Further the problem of the RS ladder currently is the lack of competition and cbs. The same skillpoint system for season 2 would have worked great because many clans played RS. Nowadays you complain more and think too much about points and records then about to do cbs. That's a problem. You should have fun playing a game and in the end you look how well you have done compared to other clans(that's the reason for a ladder and the skillpoints reflect how you have done against more skilled clans.)

About the cb limit - you complained about it and I told you we can speak about it once there is a dead end where you can't play anymore. But currently only TF6 is near the half of the max playable cbs(17 out of 42) and nevertheless most clans already complained after 4 cbs that I should remove the limit, ridiculous, because obviously the only reason for doing so would be to play against the same clan over and over again and cheat the system, period!

Well some Ghost Recon clans or better only  few players complain that the system doesn't fit to GR - few RS players say the same - I say you complain too much because if a clan wins 28games in a row what the hell is unfair if this clan is at the top of a ladder - what the hell is wrong if a clan that only wins half of its cbs or a clan that doesn't show any constant skills is ranked in the middle!?

The system is about constant skills and improving skills(in form of streaks and beating higher ranked clans)

The only real and complete fair ladder that shows the skills as objective as possible would be a professional-lead ladder where all clans start at the same time and have a complete shedule where you have to play a certain amount against each clan on the ladder. Where you get 3 points for a win, 1 for a tie, and 0 for a loss.

Such ladders work flawless and are adapted by most sports. However that would mean you can't enter midseason, you have to play this game like a professional sport that consumes much time. My aim was never to treat you to play a game like you would earn money for it. It is a damn computer game so I worked out a skillpoint system that should reflect your skills as objective as possible under the condition that you play this game as game and when you are in the mood to do so. I think that's a point some of you like to forget.

To confirm the outcome(skillpoints) of the mainseason we will play sheduled finals the first time this season which will be hopefully exciting.

Btw read the latest BL news. I gonna fine tune the current skillpoint system and all scores will be automatically recalculated. Then the outcome should be accurate especially for the RS ladder where only less cbs have been played.

About 1vs1 ladders and automatic submition scripts. The new BTs and c| ladders will give us the opportunity to take a BL pause after season 4 and finish some of our ideas and scripts that are in the works for months.

Well i just think it's odd that the PC world has more option to compete and us mac heads aren't open for change... have you tried a 1v1 in ghr according to these rules... when it counts for your ranking it really makes your heart beat... anyone who is on the ladder can account for a time when this has happened....

I also said we had the 1v1 an 2v2 ladders going... but we're constructing future ladders in order to accommodate team play... As you can see, under Ghost recon we have 4 ladders as of now which teams can sign up for...

So you better expect we're going to be doing the same for the RS and soon RvS ladders...

Basically sign up and post on the forums any suggestions or ideas for ladders and rules... we made this league so it works for us...

Blah, GhR is more realistic than RS in terms of shooting (such as running and killing someone pretty far away). Anyhoo, if you don't like GhR, no one is making you play it. I like sneaking up behind people and taunting them before popping them in the back of the head. A lot more rewarding in GhR than it was in RS. If you want more of a run-and-gun type of game, play RS. If you want something a bit slower paced, but a lot more fun(in my opinion), play GhR. I would still play RS once in a while, but lately OS9 has been giving me problems. For some reason my mouse will all-of-a-sudden stop working. It happens in OSX once in a while too. Usually unplugging it and putting it back in will fix it, but it's annoying. That, plus my deep hatred for OS9 and its crappiness compared to OSX. Anyhoo, GhR runs a lot better for me than RS anyways.

BUT, back to the RS ladder. Don't wanna get off topic here. I really don't think the scoring system has anything to do with it. The problem is just there aren't enough clans anymore and it's hard to organize a CB. Most people hate booting into OS9, too, so that's another problem.

I'm done with the R6/RS/GHR/RvS line of games after I stop playing Rogue Spear. I hate Ghost Recon, and I hate Raven Shield, so I'll likely move completly to Medal of Honor and RTCW.

I'll never argue against that. Ghost Recon is a more realistic game than Rogue Spear, that's just a fact. I think Ghost Recon's running reticules are total bullshit. In real life, it's not that it's all that hard to hit a running shot, it's that it's never needed. Whenever I shoot, I stop. In real life, running shots simply don't "come into play", so to speak.

What I am about to say here is in no way a comparison to Rogue Spear, rather a comparison to what would be the most realistic.

Let's face it, Ghost Recon's reticules are not very realistic. Ghost Recon, you can go from standing up, to laying down and accuratly hitting a shot at 150 meters in about a second. How realistic is that? You've gotta drop stance, set, scope in, aim, then fire, I'd like to meet someone who could do that in 1 second.

Try downloading the general enimey realismn mod. Use the M16 in that. I consider that reticule very realistic.

Ghost Recon tries to hit a mark that I really don't care for. In many ways, it attempts to be realistic, however, it has many unrealistic things, such as respawns, bullshit reticules, combat points, and specialists. If I want a fun, unrealistic game, I've got games like MOH, RTCW, SOF2, or even Rogue Spear. Ghost Recon fails to hit the realistic mark, nor the unrealistic one. It hits right in the middle, making it not a very fun game to play. While lots of people in this community would think otherwise, the majority of gamers would agree with me.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. The Rogue Spear ladder is inactive because of idiots who say "it was fun, but its dead, so I don't CB". You take everyone who says that, throw them back in, and the ladder's just as active as it was last season.
