Roll Eyes Mr. Lorathio inspired me to speak out about this subject when it comes to snipers. For those of you who don't realize snipers are only equipped with a sniper rifle and a choice of a handgun, grenades or extra ammo so they are not suited for close combat thus they tend to steer away from engaging the enemy at close range. Instead a sniper finds a well hidden spot and picks off his enemy from a distance or stalks his prey. Sadly enough some of you don't know this because every time we setup in a position some shithead has to go right up our asses and start beaming tracers every which way but sunday which compromises our location thus losing our tactical advantage and not to mention gets us a nickel sized hole in our heads. Another thing you fucking non-snipers go grenade or rocket happy around us which makes (you guessed it) the ground shake and we lose sight of our target and you end up with so much lead you could use your dick as a pencil. Think about it snipers cover your ass and take out targets from a distance which makes all of our lives much easier so cut him a break stay away from him and go get yourself killed somewhere else don't take us with you.

The marines are so good they took a jeep into some Iraq village trying to get ambushed, they refueled 6 times and did everything they could to get ambushed. and didn't!
Then the same people take in a army jeep and try not to get ambushed and they do. but the marines kill them all and go home.

to the contrary. in the smoke you can often see moving shilouetts that are invisible to regular rifleman. or at the very least, impossible to otherwise hit.

death angel, fery well written, and very true. if you have an oicw and are going to snipe, please find a differernt spot than the one your sniper is currently occupying. also, dont push your snipers into the open. it gets us killed and then we often have to pick an inferior spot upon respawn.

Thank you Brain and Death. Riflemen, If you're using the snipers to cover you, you don't need to be next to them. Attack from position nice and far away from the sniper, but still in the snipers line of sight. And the snipers dont need you to cover them either. They can pick a nice secluded spot surrounded by rock on three sides. The best way to help the snipers is to get the other team to focus on some other area, away from the snipers, and/or lead the other team into the snipers line of sight.

bondo, you dont even play the game, keep your nose out of this.
i cant count the number of times that i have been sniping people from highly exposed positions and at ranges that  would be more fit for CQB.  just because snipers are specialized in long range combat doesnt mean they are any more cowardly than the rifleman who lays down and takes long rang shots from an oicw on single shot.

now, dont even think about saying another word untill you actually by the game and find out what the hell you are talking about.

For those of you who don't know, GhR allows people to push prone people around. If someone is lying prone and another player runs into them, the prone person will most likely be pushed along the ground. To a sniper who is in a good position, being moved like that is annoying at best and fatally compromising at worst, especially if the position is highly exposed and only stealth is keeping the sniper from being counter-sniped.

To add my voice to Death Angel's, for the love of all that is holy, DON'T stand over a sniper and start spraying tracers. Standing NEAR (< 20 feet) a sniper and spraying tracers is bad enough, but I've been killed several times when a teammate walked up to where I was carefully and effectively concealed, stood directly behind me or at my side, and began firing. The return fire killed both him and me each time.

The best sniper positions (the ones which have the best field of fire and see the most enemy traffic) are usually highly exposed. If the sniper who is in that spot is killed, he cannot retake it. Period. Thus, it is a mortal sin to attract enemy attention and/or fire to the sniper, and it is incredibly bad tactics to let the sniper be flanked and killed from behind. Snipers would be much more effective if they weren't constantly worrying about being attacked from the rear because none of their teammates are protecting that direction. A good sniper is your team's best friend. Support them. While you're at it, support any good player on your team. If your best players die because they get surrounded or otherwise raped, it hurts your entire team.

Snipers aren't cowards, they are my friends!

Seriously, it's so much easier to charge in like Rambo when you have a few snipers behind you. Just watch a game where Bucc, Jewb, and I run in while Loth and Brain sit back there picking off the enemy. When executed properly, it's virtually unstoppable.

I agree, after every few kills its best to move. When people die they usualy realize where you are and will go to the same place to kill you. However lastnight i killed 17 people in a row from the exact same spot (I wasn't spawn camping, i didn't move because i was gimped). And i realized if you can kill them 2 times in a row people won't go back out of fear of dieing again. It also depends on the map, on maps with rocks and corners its much easier to sit in the same spot and pick off noob after noob. On maps like farm where there is a lack of cover and multiple angles of attack its much harder to snipe, and much easier to regulate snipers. I like to think all the camping i did with the ICT (big ups!) helped my sniping, because the mindset is very similar, pick spots no one thinks you'll be, and shoot them when they don't expect it.
No one is very good at Ghost Recon, Some just know tactics better than others.

Yes I agree with you Death Angel.  the sniper is very unappreciated by most of you're teammates.  I admit that I as well use sniper rifle on many games like you do, including embassy which is well known not to be really used by snipers.  In either way I find that very distracting when someone on our team launches a rocket right next to you skrewing up you're shot.  There is nothing more disagreeing.  Plus the sniper is very unapprecited by most players as well.  Like u said, if you are a sniper, you are looking for places to get good shots off, and most others call it camping like it is a bad word.  I usually call the spot that does good killin' "the Sweet spot".  In either way, I hear so much shit cause of the sniper rifle when all the sniper rifle does is make sure you're other teammates with the supressing fire and the carbines can take a position with more safety.  Also it helps in defense as well.  In either case, as a fellow sniper, I feel ure pain, and can understand how some people shoudl just realise to let the sniper go to his position without any distractions that might lead the enemy right to ya.
