SEALs and Ranger grabbed this 19 year old private from an Iraqi controlled hospital, unfortunately, I don't think any of the other 11 troops that were prisoner there were alive.

Yeah that was really good news, and very disheartening. I just heard that those forces didn't receive any fire inside the facility, only on insertion/extraction. Also an investigative team is being dispatched to the site, at least that's whats being reported on MSNBC.

according to CNN it was a joint operation between the CIA and 4 different special forces groups..... geez

I believe that CIA and DELTA operatives got the intel on the location from an interrogated Iraqi prisoner, and SEALs and Rangers conducted the raid with USMC backup, possibly with USMC transport.

I also heard that the Private expended all her ammunition firing her weapon and did not want to be taken alive. I assume that's when she sustained her gunshot wounds, but who knows. She had 2 broken legs, a broken arm, and 2 gunshot wounds when they found her, so I doubt she'd have survived much longer in that condition. It's hard to tell the facts becuse right now it's being spun into a PR story, even being used by some as an argument that women should be allowed into combat. Opportunists, what can ya do?

I heard some updates on this:
Aparrently she wasn't shot or stabbed, but did have 2 broken ankles and an arm, and an injured back, she has undergone spinal surgery as a result. It appears that the Iraqi's used a tactic commonly used on female captives, the prisoner is hung upside down by the ankles and beaten, sexually assaulted, etc. That would explain the leg injuries, and also the back injuries. Bad stuff.

You can say what you want about that young lady, she damn sure has earned my respect, and deserves everyone elses. God bless her.

Now they are saying she might have been shot again by a weak rifle or possibly a pistol...who knows.

We wont know what happened actually until she tells the story I guess. Alot of rumors going around. I just hope shes ok mentally. Shes been through alot. Would make a good movie actually.
