Hey guys, if I have a animated .gif I want in my profile pic but it is too big, can i save that image, and resize it in photoshop image-ready and still be able to post it? Actually, I have saved it and resized it, but how can I link it from my desktop?

Thanks, Kilzo

Kilzo, you have to upload the picture to a website, then DAMN will link to it.  You might try a free hosting service such as geocities if you don't have a website of your own.

You have to link to an image  that is already animated, or use one of the animated ones on DAMN's website.

To animate your own image, you need Adobe ImageReady, although their might be some share-ware applications around.  Look and see.

I have a question: why is the limit 65x65? Isn't this smaller than most forums (typical limit is 80x80 in my experience). Also, many of the icons you can choose from the default list are much bigger than 65x65. So basically, I just want you to increase the max size. It would also be nice if you could host the images yourself cuz the free thing I was hosting mine from before stopped letting you link to pictures and I'm too lazy to find another one. Just some friendly suggestions  Cool

Well you can upload your pics at our screenshot section. Just upload it there and then leave the Arts & Screenshot section again.

Your pic will be stored at dynamic.gamespy.com/~damnr6/arts/screenshots/yourpic.jpg

About the size that was the default value. Well I gonna upgrade to Yabbse 1.5.2. soon so maybe there is another default value...

Bye,

Mauti
*Update*: no it also is 65*65 but well increased it to 80*80

Thx Mauti, that makes avatar creation a lot easier. As you can see I now have my custom icon back (its the lone resister that stood up to the tanks at Tianamen Square).

I think it would be cool to auto size a picture to fit someones avatar. Another forum I visit has that capabilty, and its a great time-saver.

could you reconsider the 'no sig images' rule and let us use small sized images down there, like 150kb max or something? because itd make the forum look alot more colorful and fun, i know you're concerned with load times, and it seems that the damn forums load very quickly for everyone ive asked. if this isnt proof enough, could we do a vote?

bronto - voting is a bad idea because the people who would suffer are in the minority.  Still, those few still on dialup shouldn't be excluded from the forum because every page takes forever to load.

150k on a 56k connnection takes 30 seconds to load.  Now imagine a thread with 20 replies where everyone has one of your pic sigs.  No one's going to wait 10 minutes for every page of posts.

Obviously an overstatement, but in general, the forum doesn't need more images.  Since the text is what's most important anyway, let's keep the nice fast load times.
