I'm tired of being creative.

« on: March 10, 2003, 03:40:48 am »

Heyas all.  I know this forum isn't really designed for advertisements, but I have some mac-specific stuff I'm selling.  I just upgraded my RAM and the Apple Store let me keep the old DIMMs, so I'm auctioning them on eBay.

Anyway, if any of you might be interested, I'll cover the shipping as a token of my appreciation to your gaming community membership  Grin  Heh, ok. . .so I'm really just trying to make a buck.  But anyway, it's good RAM. . .256meg powerbook 144-pin SO-DIMMs.  Here's a link to the auction site - I think it's a reasonable price given the retail of $100 (each).

Thanks!

You are charging $4.50 for insurance? damn.

If you wanted to sell this easier, you should have started at 20-30$ and get the morons on eBay to bid it up.

If you read the payment instructions. . .it's right off the USPS website.  Insurance itself is only $2.30, but I would probably use certified mail too, and that's another $2.20.

Anyway, the idiots on eBay seem to be averse to bidding up my merchandise.  I tried to sell a DVD once that was still in it's original packaging and cost $15, and the bidding never made it up to my $10 reserve.  (It had been given to me and I'd already seen it)

And no, I didn't include pricey insurance or shipping in that one.

Well, this is where you go wrong...lemme give you some tips (I've made thousands of dollars off of eBay selling)

The high prices of shipping will scare people off - and the certified mail should have been included in the S&H, not optional insurance (you might get a neutral or negative feedback by someone who doesn't read that). Also, you shouldn't have forced certified to be mandatory...insurance and delivery confirmation is cheaper and more desirable to most poeple.

Another area where you scare people off is not accepting anything other than PayPal. A vast majority of the people prefer sending a check or money order through the mail, even though it is riskier. Another flaw in your PayPal thing is accepting any PayPal. Honestly, with all the scammers and theifs around, I would only accept Verified PayPal.

Just a few hints that might make it easier to sell, unless you get someone on here to buy it from you.

Thanks!  If this doesn't sell, I'll try some of that.

Of course, for those of you on this board in need of powerbook RAM. . .I'd welcome you to bid. . . Cool

Sigh. . .I suppose I'll end up plunking down the extra $2.50 for a relisting, because there's only a day and a half left with still no bids.

Psycho or anyone else have any more suggestions for what else I might say in the description, or how I might change pricing?

There is still nearly two days left on that auction...with an opening bid that high, you might not get a bid until the last 30 minutes.

Just wait it out and then see what happens.

Added in...your pricing seems to be very off...that much memory in brand new condition doesn't go for more than $40 (and this is the higher end).

Try repricing your item to $20 and see if you can hook somneone.

Well, it ended in failure.  However, I looked at that link you gave me assassin, and several of the items were in the fifties, sixties, and up.  So I'm going to hope I can sucker someone with free shipping.  It's relisted now at:

Negatiove loudnotes, I dont think you are looking at it correctly. A vast majority of them are under $50...only one sold for over $50, and the other two sold for over $70 Canadian....and this is brand spanking new RAM, not used.

You are better off starting around $20-$30 if you plan on selling it.

Ok. . .I'm trying $40 but still with free shipping. . .

Maybe I'm just too greedy. . .but it would seem like perfectly decent RAM for 40% of the price would be appealing. . .
