Ok, the day after I installed my GhR 1.4 patch, I started up in os9... and I got that thing on startup where it goes folder/?/folder/? etc...
It crashed, froze, died, broke, mouse control, no comp control, no mouse control, comp control, partial keyboard control, unable to eject cd, and it couldn't find my internal hard drive at all... nonexistent...
basically anything you can think of happened.

So anyway, when that happened, I didn't immediately accuse ghr of being the problem. I wanted to know more.

Finally I was able to eject my cd tray, put in systemworks, and restart from the disk. I ran norton, and what it told me was interesting. A few minor problems, and then major problems when it got to ghost recon. Many files seemed to have problems, and luckily, norton was able to fix it.

I was lucky. It took about 6 hours to fix, but I did it.

[DEA] God wasn't so lucky....
He had the same problem....

DEATH

2 or 3 days ago my bro NH was hosting a Rogue Spear game.  He said it froze on him and when he rebooted, it showed the dreaded folder with the blinking question mark.  So i ran the DiskFirst Aid and it said there were 2 minor problems and one major problem with the hard drive.  It could not repair it.  It even told me the os9 disk was damaged and that i should initialize it.  So i had to reinstall everything after initalizing the hard drive.  It has left me bitter and ill tempered.  Snipe told me his did the same, so perhaps this ghr patch humped my comp while i was sleeping and gave it herpes or something.  WTH!

I have not dled the 1.4 patch yet but I have heard from Rancid that GhR doesn't work in os 9 with the new patch. Maybe try it in OS X.

That's not the problem.  The problem is a computer crash, and it says that the hard drive is unreadable and should be initialized. You missed the point. Absalon, I think you are experiencing a different problem that what happened to me and god.

Yes after my first GR crash in OSX it also didn't find the HD part where I installed GR anymore and OSX. Luckily OS9 was on another partition so I could boot normally but it told me to initialize the GR HD partition. No disk aid utility could fix the HD error so after a crash the GR partition disappears in OS9. It only recognizes the partition if I press "alt" on start up and then select OSX, which is on the GR partition. After I boot OSX I can reboot in OS9 and it recognize the GR HD part again.

Not a very satisfying(spelling!?) solution but at least I don't have to delete my whole data on this partition,

Mauti
ps.: but this has nothing to do with the 1.4patch!
