Heh, yeah. I stand by my assertion that Aspyr's programming team is a bunch of retarded monkeys. I'm hoping that they actually did fix the problem on their end, which would leave it up to Evill. If that's the case, we can pester him directly, and probably get a fix really fast.

in fact, i pestered both aspyr and evill, and both told me that the prob wasn't on their end. (omg maybe it doesn't crash at all, and it's just me hallucinating?)

quickly checked the update over lunchtime ...
some nice features:
- indicates who's ready and who not - indicates player's ping - binoculars as default equipment (press "L") - slightly better post-battle stats - exiting a GR hosted game quits GhR
less nice:
- minimap/soldiersheet fucked (ie. skewed) on my monitor (23") - still crashes

Since Island Thunder works as mod it should work with a Mac once you were able to run the installer on a VPC or PC and transfer the files(but no promise).

thanks mauti, thats what i was hoping... does anyone how the installer works on pc (is it an .exe file, do u need a pc version of ghr to install?)? it would be cool if mac users could, for once, play somthing that was released less than two years ago on pc. i just hope this wont lead to the same circus on GR as the black thorn port.... if anyone attepts the conversion, please post if worked. from what ive seen of island thunder it looked pretty cool. thanks

This patch is really great for the server side. The server controls are a lot better now, and the kick/ban features are great. The client side update was also nice, and everyone seems to be getting a general performance boost. The one thing that got worse is GameRanger joining, but IP joining is solid as ever.

The marines are so good they took a jeep into some Iraq village trying to get ambushed, they refueled 6 times and did everything they could to get ambushed. and didn't! Then the same people take in a army jeep and try not to get ambushed and they do. but the marines kill them all and go home.

Absalon just insert your Ghost REcon CD start installing(into a new directory). Abort after 10 seconds extract the Ghost Recon application and replace your older one. Now delete the new created Ghost REcon directory and run the updater! - Now it should work fine.
Bye,
Mauti

I've actually had a quite dramatic slowdown since upgrading - on my 867/Ti600/1.5gig RAM G4 I've had to take the graphics DOWN a few notches to keep the game playable.
As for Island Thunder, I just picked it up today - it does require you to have a PC version of Ghost Recon installed to run the installer, but you can see the data files on the CD which are in .cab format - and I'm just trying to open them up manually...I'll report back later if I succeed.

I actually had the exact same problem when trying to update, and was also in OSX. I couldn't seem to find the source of the problem, but it worked fine after I reinstalled GhR (only need to replace the application, as Mauti mentioned). Try that, see if it works for you as well. Cobra
