It has become apparent that many people are either : punk ass newbs and post stupid stuff, or login as a guest to cowardly post and bash without consequence.  I think its time something has been done about this..I first noticed this in one of the AK threads, and recently in wallies farewell thread.  Im pleading to the admins to put in ip tracking of somesort or something to get rid of this unnecessary and childish nussiance.

i think they can already see ips, but theres no rule against it. they could expose the cowards, or they can disable guest posting.

     Disabling guest posting is a bad idea. There needs to be some sort of accountability... hmmm. Maybe a single IP can only post as guest X number of times ever (or X number of times within some time period), and then must get an account to post?

well i was thinking about taking the user's ip, and waiting for a registered user to login with the same ip.  or we could be dirty and trace the ip, ping bomb etc.

The IPs are worth finding out if these people are already registered in the forums and exposing them for who they are. It doesn't matter if it's dynamic, because dynamic IPs only change the last number, the first 3 numbers remain the same.

Walla, the IP is the address of your computer in a network, you choose it yourself in your internal network (if you have one) and then you let your ISP choose your external IP (either they give you a static IP or a dynamic one that changes everytime you log on to your gateway). It's a bit more complicated than that though but yeah..
I don't think Py meant you as the second punch bag, rather that ?ghei? person.
