Firewire CDRW drives

I'm need to get a Firewire CDRW drive and I'm wondering if anyone here knows a good one. I have heard good things about the Que drives. Does anyone here have one (or another brand), and if so how has it worked for you?

Lacie 48x CDRW firewire/usb 2.0 burner is what i have. Just wait till you see how fast your warez burns ace   . its small, quiet and burns a 700meg data cd in about a 1:30. I think it cost 160$ from the applestore (and a educational discount).

LaCie makes awesome burners, got one myself, 40x16x10, always works when I want it to.

ace, i recommend that you do not buy the que drive. i have owned both que and lacie drives (and i love my firewire lacie cd burner)? the que drives are replete with problems, and are much more cheaply made. i sold my que years ago in favor of the lacie and have not regretted the move.

whatever you do, don't get one from "Acom Data." They're terrible, their drivers suck, and the company offers little to no tech support. My drive from them died two months after I got it, for no reason that anyone could find.

Only problem with my LaCie burner is that it makes a lot of noise when it's on (being used to the whispering buzz of the cube), but it's only on when you burn so it's not really a problem I guess.

i'm asuming you have the big blue case kami, bigpat has one and its pretty damn loud. my 48x lacie burner is a whole different design. its pretty quiet even when burning at full speed.

I have a Que Firewire QPS 8x writable that's been great!  

Maybe the newer ones aren't as nice, but I've been very happy with this one.  It's quiet, effective, and fits nicely on top of my G4 tower.  I've never owned a LaCie, but this Que has worked fine for the last 2.5 years.

Whatever drive you get, I recommend buying Toast Titanium. . .one of the greatest software programs I've ever used.  Best CD burning software I've seen. . .runs fine in the background even in OS 9, and comes with some nice extras.  One nice program lets you convert LP records or tape cassettes to digital audio.

I prefer Yamaha! they have really good burner. Woking under X and 9.

   Between the LaCie and the QPS Que, I would say that the LaCie is definitely the better by far. The new LaCie d2 48x burner is extremely fast and was rated the top burner in a MacWorld review.
   Also the Que has many problems with OS X. Various models have become incompatible with various OS X upgrades that are supposed to improve burner support. the LaCie burners haven't suffered the same fate.
   The price for the LaCie 48x firewire is $179 from Apple and well worth the money.

I have a Freecom classic series 16x10x40. It's okay, though not write-supported by the OS. So iTunes doesnt recognise it.
Thank god for Toast Titanium from Roxio. It beats the crap out of Apple built-in burning software (tried that on my dad's powerbook). You bet that all the new macs will be getting toast on em.

As for the Freecom. It's good enough. Though with Toast it has a little bug making the computer not recognise it anymore (as anything) after aborting a burn in OS 9. (just sometimes).
