well, as i sit here  pondering the enigma that is my web browser (why does this POS suck so much, yet i still use it)
i have decided to try to find a better browser.

i would like a stable browser that is much faster than ie. it has to be able to handle cookies too (i have chimera and it cant handle cookies and that is no good since you need them to post as a member here)

any othere suggestions?

try the new version of chimera, its at .6 now.
or acually download the new nightly build of it for a few more features.
If that doesn't tickle your fancy the only other one i can recomend is Mozilla, however its a bloated browser.
chimera pwns all (pop up blocking is teh win)

IE 5.1 doesn't lag my computer like the new Netscape did. Non laggy and pwned!

On a side note: Brain, that was awesome, the page just outside the forum that lets you choose your forum for most recent post said: "If only i had a b..." and then for author, just next to it "brain" Hehehehe "If only i had a brain" Sorry, I'm tired as fuck, just got off work and haven't eaten dinner! (AND ITS 11 FUCKING 23!) Time for dinner and sleep!

Brain, I'm posting this from Chimera. It handles cookies just fine. The .6 release is pretty good. I go for the nightly builds which can be better but sometimes they are more buggy.

Use Netscape before you use Mozilla. I've found it's a little faster.

brain, fuck all those other suggestions. if you want a browser that pwns IE's slow speed but can still handle webpages coded AFTER 1997, try Opera. I use it, and it has excellent speed and support for multiple browsing windows, as well as the standard array of browsing features. its popular in europe, and it even has cool little gauges on the bottom telling you exactly what speeds you are getting and how much longer till' the entire pages loads. give it a try, in OS X or OS 9.

http://www.opera.com/

ps: although i think it pwns chimera, mozilla, and IE (i have em all) i have experienced difficulties using forms with opera. hopefully this problem is fixed in the new build, Opera 7.

Oh yeah, I forgot about iCab. I've never tried that. You should also give Omniweb a try. I haven't used it in ages, but it was a pretty solid browser. I think that covers all the OS X browsers: IE, Netscape, Mozilla, Opera, Chimera, iCab, and Omniweb.

He said opera? Anyways, opera was a cool browser on my laggy 56k os9, it had the google search bar on top so you didnt have to go there, and they saved the last page you went to if you didnt close it. thats good unless your looking at pr0n?

Yah, every browser sucks... Haven't tried Opera though. IE is the best out of the main ones (netscape, mozilla, chimera), in my opinion. Netscape and mozilla both have trouble with fitting on the screen... Chimera just doesnt seem to load Java things, maybe Shockwave... maybe both for some reason. IE sometimes messes up and doesnt let me scroll down... but all you need there is a quick refresh and it works. Ill try out opera sometime, see how that works.

I don't use IE mainly because i don't want their shitty browser that crashes alot, oh and i am trying to not run any peice of MS software on my computer. Oh and did i mention that i test games for MS Wink
Opera has some problems, mainly the interface sucks cock and it is rediculously slow.
I like chimera because of the speed, coccoa interface, and the way it works well with mostly all websites. The one thing that it lacks is a download manager, however i solved that problem by using a program called "speed download"

Some of the things that chimera has like popup blocking are key in my quest to never see another advertisement on the internet again, well that and my proxy.

Omniweb

You can find links to all the major OS X browsers in the Internet Utilities section of Apple's OS X Downloads page.

Just curious Ben, but did you try the .6 release of Chimera? If you turn off disk caching it becomes a hell of a lot more stable, and turning on http pipelining makes it even faster. I really suggest you give it another look.

I downloaded Omniweb, and I must say it's a pretty solid browser. It's slower than Chimera, but I may deal with that if it only had tabs. Once you go tabbed, you never go back.

Can't say I did Ace; then again, I've never tried Chimera.
