Hi guys ,thanks for the encouragement with the CAG mod,I'm hoping to have a beta uploaded to the SBS clansite tonight.
I've been modding a few weapons,and have a question for all the guru's out there?
What is the maximum amount of polys you should have,reason I ask is that I made a n M4/203/peq4/Taclight combo,started off as a trial thing was getting so carried away,and it started to look good,I didn't reduce the cylinders etc,the end result was 3500+/-,but it looks and runs fine on my system!!When I sarted to isolate element and optimize them,I sarted to loose texture effect,and it took me tooooo long to make in the 1st place,so I left it at that!!
How can I rectify this,apart from remaking the whole thing?

If you saved it before export, you can probably reduce many polys by taking cylinders down to 6-8 sides. I always say my weps are high in poly count and they are, but usually Im around 1000-1500. I would love to see your 3500

I went back and checked count on the last colt635 I posted here, its 1268 without any of the faces deleted. Could cut it in half actually.

do you mean in a screen shot,or a render,or the max file itself?I can email you all 3 if you want?.I've gad it running in the game with no problems at all,In fact It was 5000 polys before I sarted cutting it down,by element selection and optimizing the mesh,It started to get a bit distorted,I guess I never used the smooth action!!.

I dont use any of that, most do though I guess. Send any ya want, Im just curious how ya did it. Im always looking for ways to drive coco crazy. A 5000 poly count model would do it

I don't think it takes any EXTRA effort for you to drive me crazy, lol. And I agree, more than 8 sides on a cylinder is very hard to see the difference in game, and on a slower computer it'll lag a bit if you go too crazy.

Are you guys going to give the M14 the usual Tac treatment with all sorts of non-functional goodies hanging off of it? Perhaps a bunch of different varients with different scopes attached (and one without a scope)?

I cant seem to do the weapon justice. I absolutely love it, so I may be just a little picky. I havent got any feedback from the guys on the one I submitted. Its in realtree camo, hehe. We shall see
Cobra and I have finished with the weapons part of the mod, so its all on coco now,
